5 Things I’m Doing to be More Healthy

With just six weeks to go until we fly out to Mexico for our honeymoon, I have been making a conscious effort to try and be more healthy, having lapsed over the past couple of months.

I don’t want to lose a lot of weight, but it would be nice to get a bit more in shape and to feel confident whilst spending the majority of our week away in a bikini.

These are the 5 things I’ve been doing to be more healthy!

Drink More Water

I am fairly good and don’t drink much other than water anyway, but I am awful at the amount of water I actually drink.

I can go for hours without drinking and will only remember how little I have had when I am feeling dizzy and lightheaded.

I have been really trying to up my water intake over the past week, and I have already started seeing some benefits of doing this. I feel much more awake and with it when I am fully hydrated, and any skin is looking better too.

Cut down on Carbs

Ed has cut out carbs on all but one meal a week for the past few weeks and I can’t be dealing with that, I love them too much, and feel they give me the energy I need to be running around after Benjamin all day.

However, over the past week I have started to drastically cut down on the amount I have been eating, and I definitely feel less bloated.

I was having scrambled egg on toast in the morning, a flatbread stuffed with chicken for lunch and some sneaky tortilla chips, rice or chips alongside my dinner. By cutting these out, I feel much better.

I am not cutting all carbs, as Ed has, but this compromise is definitely doing some good.

Cheat Meal

Cheat or treat meals are a bit controversial, some people don’t think this is a healthy mindset to have about food, but this method has really helped me in the past to trim down.

I tend not to feel like I am depriving myself of the foods I am craving during the week, if I know I can enjoy them on my day off.

Ed only has one meal, but I find having the whole day helps me to actually binge less. With the knowledge I can eat whatever I want throughout the day, I have a bit of what I fancy, but I don’t go overboard.

Cutting down on Alcohol

I don’t drink vast amounts of alcohol as it is, but I have been having a glass of wine here and there throughout the week, and it all adds up, especially when my drink of choice is a glass of white wine, which is fairly high in calories.

I haven’t been drinking anything during the week (unless it is a special occasion), and I plan to keep this up.

Moving More

I was really good at doing my exercise DVD a few times a week, but it just hasn’t been feasible to spend over an hour doing this in the daytimes now I have taken on more work.

During Benjamin’s nap times I am getting work done, and my fitness has taken a backseat.

I have been trying to move more in general, whether that is dancing around the kitchen with the kids like a loon whilst cooking dinner, or getting out for a walk with Benjamin in his buggy during the weekdays, and I am feeling the benefits of this.

I do want to get back to exercising properly as well, as I always feel happier when I have been active, but for now I am taking baby steps.

What do you do to feel more healthy? Do you have any tips or tricks I can try?

I couldn’t completely cut carbs out either – I get really frustrated when I can’t eat the things that I like! So I tend to treat myself in moderation, mainly on the weekend’s and then I’m able to stick to a healthy diet during the week xo

I’m definitely more conscious about eating trying to incorporate more fruit and veg and avoiding fast food which is really hard since I’m lazy 😂
