Here in the UK we are back in another lockdown, the third since Covid-19 was declared a pandemic last year. With the current government legislation being to stay at home, apart from for a limited amount of exceptions, it is worth looking into the services that are available to help you stay home as much as possible during lockdown.
Online Pharmacy
If you would rather avoid the GP surgery, an Online Pharmacy is a brilliant alternative, allowing you to stay at home and order the medication you require to be delivered direct to your door. Doctors and pharmacists are able to provide advice and treatment for a range of common ailments, including issues that may cause you embarrassment to discuss in person. The service isn’t suitable for emergencies, but is perfect for dealing with common health conditions and minor ailments.

Supermarket Services
Most, if not all, the main supermarkets now offer delivery and click and collect services, which is a great alternative to navigating a busy supermarket during the pandemic. You can head to the website, or download the app, fill your virtual basket with all the items you would usually pick up in the shop, and have it delivered to your front door, or ready for you to pick up in the car, at a date and time to suit you, usually for a small fee.

Takeaway Apps
Fed up of cooking, or just can’t handle it after juggling working from home and homeschooling? There are plenty of takeaway delivery apps to choose from including the popular JustEat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo, all of which offer discounts and incentives for signing up and recommending a friend, if you are hoping to save some pennies. January always feels like a long month, but with the current lockdown continuing until at least late February, it’s likely you might want a treat at some point, and this way you don’t have to leave the house to collect your food.

YouTube Workouts
Whether you are missing the gym, or just looking for a distraction from the same four walls, you can find an abundance of workouts available free of charge on YouTube. Although you are currently allowed out once a day for exercise, you may prefer to use this for a walk with members of your household or one other person, as allowed. Find a workout that suits your interests and ability level and workout whilst staying in the warm this January. If you’re looking for something low impact, Joe Wicks will be back next week with his fitness sessions aimed at children, but fun for the whole family to join in with.

Obviously it is sometimes not possible to stay at home, however hopefully this post will have given you some alternatives for the most common reasons to leave the house, and provided alternative solutions for those hoping to avoid coming into contact with those outside of your household.
