One of the things that becomes more and more of a challenge as your kids get older is trying to keep them occupied. After all, when they’re babies their demands are pretty simple outside of eating and sleeping. However, older kids need to not only be stimulated but they need to work off some of their excess energy too. The trouble is that a lot of the best ways to keep your little ones entertained can be pretty expensive which just isn’t really feasible if you’re having to pay for them multiple times a week. However, not every fun activity for kids is expensive. With that in mind, here are just a few ways to keep your little ones entertained without emptying your bank account.
Something to watch
There’s a lot of panic around the idea of putting kids in front of a screen for too long, and sure, there is no doubt that too much screen time is hardly the best thing in the world. However, sometimes you’ve just got to get things done and the kids need to stay entertained. Whether you’re cooking, cleaning, or doing anything else, sometimes some screentime can be incredibly valuable. And if you don’t want to use up all of your internet data, services like https://setapp.com/apps/downie can be fantastic. They can let you download videos to your devices so that your kids can enjoy them without using up your internet.
Get crafty
Of course, sometimes all kids really want is to have the chance to get their hands dirty for a while and there is no better way to do that than with some crafts. The wonderful thing is that, aside from the costs of materials, it’ll almost never cost you a thing. Some paper, crayons, paints, and glue are all you really need to spark any child’s imagination. Plus, it’s something that you can all get involved in and that can be fun for kids of just about any age and ability.
Go exploring
Then again, sometimes you and the kids just want to get out of the house for a while. Cabin fever can set in pretty easily, especially if the weather is nice. So why not just head out and go exploring? You don’t have to go anywhere in particular, just start heading out and see if you can’t come across something interesting. If you live near any areas of nature that’s even better! And even if the weather’s miserable, heading out in jackets and boots to jump around in muddy puddles is one of the most wonderful things that you can do with your kids.
The truth is that there are very few activities that can’t be fun when you’re doing them together as a family. Whether you’re building a den out of blankets, playing hide and seek, or just letting the kids make up fun and exciting games in their imagination, as long as it’s something that you’re doing as a family, it’s something that can be incredibly fun without costing you a penny.
