•Complimentary review visit•
A couple of weeks ago, Ed and I made the 45 minute car journey over to South Parade Pier in Southsea to visit Kidz Island – a family amusement area situated at the end of the pier. We had been kindly gifted unlimited ride wristbands, which you can purchase for just £7.50, allowing you to go on as many rides as you would like throughout the day. You have your hand stamped upon arrival, so you are able to come and go as you please, making it a really economical amusement for those visiting the area on holiday, and locals looking for something to do during the summer holidays alike.
Kidz Island has a variety of rides, most of which are suitable for children as young as Benjamin, who is almost three. There are minimum height restrictions on rides, but almost all allowed Benjamin to go on with a parent and the older two children were allowed to go on the rides without an adult, apart from the Dodgems.
The unlimited ride wristband allows you to go on the rides as many times as you would like, although during busy periods you will still need to go back and queue up again, or you can purchase tokens for £2 a ride.
The kids liked the mini rollercoaster best and were really happy they were able to go on it without supervision – it definitely made them feel grown up. The side stalls were also popular, offering a prize every time, and Ed had fun being a big kid on the Helter Skelter – the totally traditional and iconic funfair attraction.
There are food stalls serving hot and cold drinks, sweet treats and ice creams as well as a cafe serving food if you are looking for something more substantial. We enjoyed candy floss and ice creams, even if the wind did make it a little tricky!
You can purchase wristbands or tokens on arrival at the pier, further information can be found on the South Parade Pier website.
We were provided with complimentary wristbands and tokens for snacks and drinks, however all words and images are my own.
