Lunching at Neo Restaurant

It isn’t often I go out for a meal at lunchtime, so it made a nice change to meet up with fellow local blogger Rachael at NEO, a restaurant located opposite Bournemouth pier, next to the prestigious Hermitage Hotel. The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner, and we were visiting to try out NEO’s newly launched A La Carte menu.

To start, I went for the Ham Hock Terrine, whilst Rachael had the Scallops. I had never tried Scallops before, and had a little taste. They weren’t for me, but Rachael said they were generously sized and tasty. My Terrine was bigger than I anticipated, I left some as I wanted to leave room for my main and dessert.

For my main, I had the Rosemary & Lemon Chicken Supreme, which looked incredible and was absolutely delicious, fresh and not too filling. I hadn’t tried radishes before, and was pleasantly surprised by the taste and texture. The presentation of Rachael’s Pan Fried Duck Breast was beautiful – everything was so colourful, and she confirmed it tasted as good as it looked.

I had spotted the Triple Chocolate Brownie on the menu when we first sat down, and I didn’t hesitate when ordering. Rachael had filled up during her starter and main and had been debating not having a dessert but she decided on the Chargrilled Pineapple and it was just right as a palette cleanser and light pudding choice. I had a little and thought the sweet pineapple and fiery kick of chilli worked really well together.

The service during our visit was brilliant. We were the first to arrive for lunch and for a short time had the restaurant to ourselves. Our waiter, James, was attentive and friendly, providing a cheeky charm alongside fantastic service. He was quick to top up our glasses of wine, and offered his advice on which cocktails we should enjoy as a treat at the end of our meal.

NEO is perfectly positioned as a spot to enjoy lunch or dinner with friends and family. The A La Carte menu is full of sumptuous choices to tempt the tastebuds and the Set Menu, priced at £19 for 2 courses or £24 for 3 courses, is available if you are dining on a budget. It includes dishes such as Fish and Chips and the NEO Beef Burger, plus the chocolate brownie I had, which I can confirm is as divine as it looks.

We were provided with a complimentary meal with drinks for the purpose of this review post, however all words and images are my own.
