The last 18 months have been hugely challenging for so many people. Contender Fest, which is held 10-12th September, is described as being ‘three days of fitness, feasting, music, and wellness’. Taking place just outside the New Forest (Postcode: BH23 6DF), it’s the perfect location for those in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Southampton, or a great excuse to visit the area for a late summer break.

The Big 5 is all about the reps with deadlifts, chest presses and barbell squats amongst others. PX is a team event, with an obstacle course to complete and the stipulation that your team must include at least one female to take part. Run 4 Your Life is an individual event, with contenders competing for the fastest time. Finally, Swarm 100 can be entered individually or in teams and is more of a ‘fun-run’ style event.
If competing isn’t really your style, you can still get active with plenty of taster classes to try out across the weekend with experts in Yoga, Kick Boxing and Zumba. Up to three classes are included in the cost of the Silver and Gold ticket price, so you can try your hand at something new or hone a skill you already have.
Not feeling up to participating at all? Don’t worry, there is plenty of entertainment to suit everybody including live music, DJ sets, street food stalls, three speciality bars and fairground rides. As well as delicious food and drink, trade stands will include clothing so you can get kitted out before competing.
