If you are currently dating, the pandemic may have made things a little bit more difficult for you. Whether you are still looking for your Mr (or Mrs) Right, are in the beginning stages of a relationship, or perhaps navigating long distance for the first time thanks to Covid, I’ve put together a post filled with ideas on how you can keep the romance alive during the pandemic. As these are virtual dates, you can take part regardless of which tier you are currently in, which might help take the stress out of choosing what to do.

Head Out for a Walk

If you are allowed to, you could meet up for a socially distanced walk, but even if you can’t physically be together, why not get outside in the fresh air and talk over the phone or via a video call to feel connected even whilst you are apart? To make it more interesting, get online and search for a map of your partner’s local area and pick their route for them. Wrap up warm as the temperature continues to dip, and have a proper chat whilst getting those steps in at the same time.

Cook Together

If you are big foodies, or just fans of food in general, you could centre your date around cooking a meal. Decide in advance what you are going to have and what ingredients you will need and then get cooking at the same time, keeping each other in the loop via video call. You can judge who did it best at the end, and then enjoy your meal at the same time.

Online Dating

Perhaps you’ve yet to meet a partner, and have put your dating plans on hold during the pandemic. Online dating allows you to start a conversation before you meet in person, which is perfect whilst restrictions are in place, giving you the time to talk via message and over the phone first, until you can meet. You can even search for singles in your own area, by joining dating websites for a particular region, for example Norfolk dating is for those looking for love in that particular area.

Read a Book

If you both love to read, why not form a ‘book club’ together and choose something you can both read and compare notes throughout? You could read before bed and then chat on the phone before you go to sleep, it’s a lovely idea for couples who would usually sleep over and are looking to keep the closeness whilst covid keeps you apart.

Watch a Film

If you long to be curled up in front of the tv together, do the next best thing and arrange a virtual film night. You can watch together online in a variety of different ways, including Teleparty, which allows you to sync up your video playback, with group chat available for Netflix and Disney+.

Online Escape Room

Fancy something a little more adrenaline filled for your date? You can take part in Escape Rooms online, giving you the option to work together to complete different themed games from the comfort of your own homes. Perfect for couples who want to do something a little different, or for a special occasion spent apart.

Workout

Maybe you are both into fitness and would ordinarily head to the gym together… if so, you could try out online fitness classes to get sweaty at the same time. There are loads of classes available online with everything from box fit to yoga, just pick something which suits you both, book in and enjoy.

Play an Online Game

If you are both keen gamers, or just fancy something a little different for date night whilst apart, there are games that you can enjoy together online or via a games console. You can even play traditional games such as Monopoly on your smartphones!
