I haven’t done a chatty update post on here for a long time so I thought I would catch you up on what’s going on in my life right now.
Following lockdown restrictions easing in the summer, I returned to the office, initially for just one day a week, then two and I went back four days, as I did before all of this happened, at the start of September when the kids went back to school and nursery.
I enjoyed being back in the office, it was nice to be around other people again, albeit at a distance compared to before Covid-19. I had just become used to being back in the office, to the return to a routine, when Boris Johnson made his announcement about working from home once more, if you were able to.

As the children’s situation was so precarious, with the school operating a bubble system, which could mean the need to isolate and return to home schooling at any point, and because it made more sense to return to working from home for me and my situation, that is what I did.
Unfortunately this coincided with the season changing, and everything got on top of me a little with my SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). I have spent a few weeks feeling quite low compared to how I have been, and it has been a bit of a struggle, readjusting to life back at home, this time without the mayhem that came with homeschooling three children alongside finding time to get my work done. The house is quiet during the day, and I can go hours without any human interaction, which leaves me alone with my thoughts a lot.

Still, I am a strong person, and I have also found working from home gives me the flexibility to focus time on working out as soon as the children have gone to school and nursery, before I get down to my work for the day. Working out is more about the mental health benefits for me, than the physical side of it. I’m not working out to lose weight or tone up necessarily, but in order to calm my mind and to release the endorphins that will help me.

Other than working from home, a lot of my time is currently focused on Christmas content. Yes, I know it is only October, but for Bloggers, Christmas starts back in July, and it doesn’t hold up until mid December, so it can be a bit full on. I love Christmas, always have, so it’s nice to be able to focus my mind on preparing festive posts, when I am feeling a bit melancholy.
I am excited to share my Christmas gift guides and an advent calendar post I have been working on, but I am also looking forward to seeing what Christmas events will be able to go ahead this year with all the restrictions in place, and sharing these on the blog too.

In a way I feel like I’ve had my head underwater for the past few months, or really since March when all of this started, if I’m being honest. I am determined to turn the end of 2020 around and to finish the year on a positive note, despite everything that’s going on in the world. It’s a stressful time, but there’s still beauty in the world, and I want to focus on the positives rather than the negatives, going forward.
