Exercise is good for us, yes, but it can be a real bore to get on with! It’s why so many people start strong and then drop off after a couple of weeks. And of course, it was hard to keep up with an exercise routine during lockdown. But now we’ve got a little more freedom to make use of it’s time to get back into the swing of things. As such, here are a variety of activities that’ll help you shake off some of those daily calories. And remember, the goal here isn’t to feel like exercise is a chore, but to have fun whilst moving!
Make Up Your Own Dance Routine
Dancing is something we can end up doing without even noticing. Honestly, how many times do you catch yourself just busting a move whilst you’re boiling the kettle or loading the dishwasher? Take this idea to the next level and start dancing on purpose.
Put on some music, clear some space in the living room, and get to making up a dance routine to your favourite song. You can easily get the kids involved as well, as they’ll probably love to dance along with you and have a laugh as they expend some energy. Dancing comes naturally and no one is watching, so get to breaking a sweat!
Hit the Dog Park
If you’ve got a dog that loves to get out and about, why not spend more time outside with them? If you’ve got some time these days on the weekend or after work, head down to the dog park during quieter hours and have your pooch run around the pathway with you.
Take some treats and a ball with you and play a few games, and then walk back home when you’ve been able to catch your breath. It’ll help bring you closer to your beloved pet, and it’ll certainly make the pet think of you as a fun person to be around!
Try a Non-Traditional Sport
There are thousands of sports that you can take part in, and most of them you haven’t ever considered before! And why not? Because you don’t typically think of them as being exercise heavy. However, things like rock climbing or ultimate frisbee involve a lot of moving and some serious strain on the muscle, meaning they’re excellent for getting your heart rate up.
Other such sports include roller skating or skateboarding; you can try out some of the easiest skateboard tricks for beginners by just getting on the board and learning how to balance with it. As long as you’ve moving, as long as you feel yourself working up a sweat and using some adrenaline, it’s going to be a good activity for your body.
Exercise can be fun when it’s disguised as something else. Forget hitting the gym – take some time down the park with your pets or sing along to music in your own homemade club. Have fun and you’ll notice some real changes in your body!
