I feel so fortunate to be married and living together with my husband during the coronavirus pandemic. For many couples who are dating, or living apart for whatever reason, this year has been incredibly tough and continues to involve a lot of adaptation. If you are currently dating during a pandemic, these tips will hopefully help keep the romance alive regardless of which tier you are currently in.
Remember the Rules
Although it might be tempting to ignore them, the current restrictions have been put in place for a good reason – to help control the spread of the virus, and ultimately save more lives from being lost to the pandemic. If you happen to be in tier 1, you are able to meet indoors for the first time since the second lockdown, however if you are in tiers 2 or 3, things are a little bit more difficult when it comes to seeing each other. Remember to do your research and look into what restrictions are currently in place for where you live, and if one of you lives in a higher tier than the other, you will need to follow the rules for that tier when it comes to dating.
Head Outside
It may be cold, but for tier 2, you can only meet those outside of your household and bubble in outside spaces at present. This doesn’t have to be a simple walk as many venues have adapted to offer outdoor eating spaces, so you can have a cosy date wrapped up warm, without breaking the rules. Have a look into what venues are offering outside seating in your local area, and enjoy spending time together in the fresh air (remember that you are still required to socially distance when meeting up, even outside, so kissing is still off the cards for now).

Date Online
If you are currently single, don’t feel like you need to stop dating during the pandemic. You may not be able to meet people out and about as easily at the moment, but you can find people looking to date in your local area, which helps rule out the hassle of a long distance relationship when online dating. For example, those in Devon dating, can find other singles in the area and start chatting before you arrange to meet for the first time, for a socially distanced date in real life.

Virtual Dates
If you are in tier 3, you will need to keep up the online conversation whilst you are unable to meet in person. If you are getting a little tired of voice and video calls to keep in touch, why not try having a virtual date together? You could have you own little pub quiz via Zoom, or order a takeaway and eat it at the same time whilst chatting over FaceTime.

Invest in Tech
If you are struggling with being apart, there’s an app for that! You can download free apps, initially created for long distance couples, which can help you feel connected, even when apart. Taking it a step further, there are gadgets available to purchase to bridge the gap, including app controlled couples toys and devices which share your heartbeat.
