I never used to go for an afternoon tea, as I am a bit of a fussy eater and don’t drink hot drinks, so it always seemed like something I wouldn’t enjoy. However, I have actually attended several review visits over the past year or so, and have come to love this rather indulgent meal. As it is National Afternoon Tea Week (12th-18th August), I figured it was the perfect excuse to share with you some of my favourite places to enjoy a sweet treat with friends.
Norfolk Hotel, Bournemouth
A quintessentially British afternoon tea offering in the heart of Bournemouth town centre. I was impressed with the sandwiches at the Norfolk Hotel, which were really tasty, and you can choose to upgrade to champagne, if you fancy an extra treat.
Slug & Lettuce, Bournemouth
My mum and I headed to a Tipsy afternoon tea at the newly opened Slug & Lettuce Old Christchurch Road, as an early Mother’s Day treat, and both enjoyed the very generous selection of sweet treats on offer. I wasn’t keen on the way the food was served, as it wasn’t very easy to photograph (blogger problems and all that), but I have seen that they now serve it on stands, so I will have to go back!
Eforea Spa at the Hilton Ageas Bowl, Southampton
I absolutely love the Eforea Spa at Hilton Ageas Bowl. I think the hotel has to be up there as one of my favourites, and I have previously written about all the things I love about it on the blog. I went along for a spa day with Ciara earlier in the year, and we enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea alongside our spa treatment. I would highly recommend as an indulgent treat – it’s an act of self care!
The Bournemouth Bloggers went along for their Christmas meet-up to our local Haskins, in Ferndown, last year and we were treated to a yummy afternoon tea, which had the biggest scones! Totally yummy, and perfect if you get peckish whilst looking around the garden centre.
Level8 Sky Bar, Bournemouth
The first Christmas meet-up I hosted with the Bournemouth Bloggers was at Level8 Sky Bar, part of the Hilton Hotel in Bournemouth. I was seriously impressed with their attention to detail when it came to presentation, and the selection was absolutely incredible. Totally recommend a visit!
The Bell Inn, New Forest
Another festive event, The Bell Inn, which is in the New Forest, hosted a delicious Christmas themed afternoon tea, and I honestly couldn’t get enough. From Yule log, to homebaked sausage rolls, this was an afternoon tea with a difference. Don’t worry though, the venue offer afternoon teas all year round, and their menu is delicious.
