As I’ve mentioned before, I love baking with the kids. It’s a fun activity we can do together, and something the children really enjoy. I have also been trying to get them more involved in cooking in general, as they are fairly fussy eaters, and I’ve heard that this can help encourage them to be more adventurous.
I’ve got a collection of cook books which I use for inspiration, but they are all a bit complicated for the kids to follow. When I heard about the first tandem cook book – My Little Sous Chef, I was intrigued to see what the children would think.
The idea is two books, one suitable for children, and the other for adults, both with the same recipes in. I love the concept and, when I received the book through the post from the lovely team over at The Book Publicist, I really love how the books look too.
The children’s book is ringbound, and wipe clean, which is brilliant when working around food. The recipes are kept nice and simple, with plenty of illustrations for the children to look at.
Meanwhile the adult’s book is more in-depth, with detailed instructions and beautiful illustrations to show you what your creations should end up looking like.
There are a range of starters, mains and desserts to try your hand at, all fairly simple to make it easy for the children to follow.
The children had loads of fun looking through the recipe book and choosing their favourites to make. I’m looking forward to creating pizza muffins, mini burgers and fruit skewers with them!
The books are perfect for parents looking to involve their children in the cooking. The children are so excited to help out in the kitchen, and they love having their very own cookbook to use.
We were provided with the Little Sous Chef books for the purpose of this post, however all opinions and photos are my own.
