5 Things I Have Planned to Celebrate My Birthday

I turn 29 in just under a month’s time on May 2nd. This birthday seems quite significant as it marks the last year of my twenties, and I am feeling a little apprehensive.

For this reason, and the fact that I always love to spread my birthday out for as long as physically possible, I am celebrating across two weeks.

There is another reason. Ed has a martial arts course that, every year, falls on my birthday weekend. He hasn’t gone for the last couple of years, but this year he is going.

I’m sad that he won’t be around to celebrate with me, but he is taking me away the weekend before, and out for a meal on my actual birthday, so I guess I can forgive him. There is no way I am having him miss next year when I turn 30 though!

These are 5 things I am doing this year to celebrate turning 29…

A Weekend Away

I have asked Ed to keep the destination a surprise, so I don’t know where we are going, but it will be lovely to have a little time away. A few years ago we went to Bath, and he surprised me with a wine tasting, which was so much fun. I’m not usually a fan of surprises, but Ed does them well so I am excited to see what he has up his sleeve.

A Birthday Meal

My actual birthday falls on a Wednesday, so I am planning to go out for a meal with Ed, the kids and my family. I’m trying to decide where to go at the moment, but one of my favourite things to do is eat, so I can’t deny this is one of the things I am most looking forward to over my birthday (there will be cake as well – yum)!

A Visit to the Gin Festival

I am actually technically working over my birthday weekend, but seeing as that work is a review visit to the Gin Festival in Bournemouth, I think I can cope!

I haven’t actually got a taste for Gin yet (I know, who am I?), but I am hoping that this will help change that. I am going to the same session as the lovely Emma, and taking my sister along with me, so it should be a really fun event.

Cocktails in Town

Following on from the Gin festival, I am planning cocktails at one of my favourite bars, just in case I don’t love the gin as much as I hoped. I think some greek meze might be in order too at The Real Greek. After my recent review visit there, I am craving their Halloumi fries so bad!

A Spa Day

I love a good spa day, but I don’t usually treat myself to one as they can be so expensive. I figured my birthday weekend was as good a time as any. I want a massage so badly!

Do you try and spread your birthday out as much as possible? What are your birthday plans this year?
