Mummy Mondays – A Wonderbly Christmas

I can’t believe its been almost a year since we did our very first review with Wonderbly for their fantastic Lost my Name book.

Since then, the blog has come on leaps and bounds and I have reviewed several other titles including The Birthday Thief, The Incredible Intergalatic Journey Home and most recently Kingdom of You.

Today I wanted to share with you one of Wonderbly’s newest creations, My Golden Ticket, which would be the perfect gift for a child this Christmas!

I grew up with the story of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory, and I’ve been able to pass the story onto the kids with the film.

When Wonderbly offered to send us their twist on the classic, I wasn’t sure what to expect from it but I was pleasantly surprised. This isn’t just a rehashed version, but a fun alternative, with the classic Wonderbly personalisation included.

As well as the main character’s name, this book also allows the sender (or another adult of their choosing) to feature in the story, which is a lovely touch and something Cameron really enjoyed. For his story, nanny was the lucky guest to visit the chocolate factory with him.

Cameron is fairly confident with his reading now and could follow the story with me as I read the book to him. He absolutely loved that the sentences didn’t come one after another as most books do, but twisted and turned across the pages.

Cameron loved the story, especially his very own unique Oompa Loompa song! Another aspect of the book which Cameron was enthralled by was the scented postcard, which is an optional extra during the ordering stage. I am a big kid at heart, and I love the novelty of the book smelling just like a chocolate factory would – it gives the book that fully immersive edge, and gets a big thumbs up from me.

I won’t ruin the story for you, but as with other books by Wonderbly, this one has a lovely message to uncover. As a mum I read the children a lot of stories, and I can honestly say, Wonderbly’s are some of my favourites – they are so much fun!

If you are on the lookout for a book for your child to unwrap this Christmas I would recommend taking a look at the Wonderbly website which is totally user-friendly, with fantastic fast customer service should you require any assistance.

The range of books and other gifts are well made and will be cherished for years to come.

A hardcover copy of My Golden Ticket was provided to me for the purpose of this review, however all opinions and photos are my own.
