Trying out the Toneibox

•Gifted Item•

Lockdown with three children, when both of you are still working from home, is at times pretty tough. Fortunately, we were sent out a Toniebox to try out, and it has been fantastic for those times when the children have finished their school work for the day but we are still finishing off some work of our own. The Toniebox is an audio system created for children, which comes in a range of colours, and is priced at £59.45 for a starter set.

The Toniebox we were sent is Pink and came with a creative Tonie, also in Pink. We were sent a Fox Tonie to start off our collection. You can choose to expand your Toniebox with a whole host of different creatives, as well as book sets including favourites such as The Jungle Book, Cars and Fireman Sam.

Setting up the Toniebox was fairly straightforward, with a handy little booklet with instructions and illustrations. I think our internet connection was quite unstable when I set it up though, as it did falter a couple of times before working. This is something you only have to do when you first get the Toniebox, so it wasn’t an issue, and is likely down to the pressure on internet connection speed during the lockdown.

There is a handy app which you can download for free, which allows you to control the Toniebox and gives you the option to personalise it with a name. I love that I can keep an eye on the device, even when the older children are playing with it themselves, as it gives you that extra level of security, as a parent. The Toniebox comes with its own charging station to charge the battery, with a handy light system to guide you when the battery is running low.

All set up and ready to go, the kids loved getting to grips with the Toniebox. The creative Tonie has room for 90 minutes, so you can listen to music and upload your own MP3s and audiobooks or even record your own audio files to play. They enjoyed listening to the story with the Fox, and being in control of the music already available on the creative Tonie. They have been looking at the other characters that they want to get in the future – I think they will be adding some to their birthday lists.

Once you the content has fully downloaded, by placing the Tonie on top of the Toniebox and waiting for the LED light to turn a solid green, the audio can be played anywhere, even without a WiFi connection – perfect for long journeys and whilst on holiday.

The Toniebox couldn’t be simpler to use and all the children picked it up really quickly, even our three year old, who loves bopping around to it. The box doesn’t need to be turned off, as it switches off automatically after ten minutes of inactivity, which is great when you have young children who forget to turn off devices after using them.

Overall the children are really enjoying the Toniebox and I would recommend purchasing, if you are looking for a device which is simple to use, screen free and can play music and read stories for your children, with the opportunity to expand further with additional products.

We were gifted the items featured, however all words, opinions and images are my own.
