Autumn is definitely one of my favourite seasons. Although my depression can worsen when the days get darker, I still love this time of year. It’s a very busy time for us, with lots of birthdays and the excitement of Christmas just around the corner.
I love going walks when the leaves start falling from the trees. There’s something so relaxing about walking through big piles of leaves, on those crisp autumn mornings when everything seems possible, or on cold autumn evenings when you know there’s a big cosy blanket and something comforting for dinner waiting for you back home.
I’ve written about my love of the spookiest date in the calendar in a recent post about our Halloween party plans. I love how excited the children get for dressing up and having their faces painted, and as one of my favourite film genres is horror, it’s a good excuse to watch some on Netflix.
I love bonfire night, watching firework displays and having fun with sparklers. This bonfire weekend is extra special as we are having our uk wedding blessing and reception on Saturday 4th. We have a bonfire night theme, with hotdogs and chilli to eat, followed by a chocolate fountain and a salted caramel brownie stack in place of a wedding cake. It also means we will be treated to fireworks on the night, free of charge, thanks to local displays!
I love an excuse for new clothes, and recently went shopping for some bits to add to my autumn winter wardrobe. This time of year is perfect for me as I love layers and am happiest in big comfy jumpers, skirts, tights, boots and cosy scarves!
Yes, I said it! Christmas may still be a couple of months away, but it pays to be prepared and I’m not ashamed to say I’ve started my Christmas shopping! I love the excitement in the air as Christmas approaches, with all the fantastic displays in the shops, the special offers and the gift guides to go through for inspiration. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
