Food & Fitness Friday – Where to Get the Best Cocktails in Bournemouth

I’m a huge fan of a nice cold glass of Prosecco or Sauvignon Blanc but there’s something about summer which just makes me want to throw caution to the wind and order a cocktail. My all time favourite has to be a frozen strawberry margarita, but I’m also partial to a pornstar martini or the classic cosmopolitan.

If you’re visiting Bournemouth this summer, heading over for a hen do or are a local on the lookout for a pretty drink to add to your Instagram, I’ve complied my top six places to get cocktails in Bournemouth. You’re welcome!

Eden

This hidden gem has to be at my number one spot. Located opposite the Hilton on Terrace Road, this bar is fantastic whatever the weather. With a retractable roof, heated lamps and cosy booths, they even provide blankets for when it gets chilly.

Run by a friendly team, headed up by the brilliant manager, Ben, who always welcomes us with a smile, this is ‘our’ bar. The one we used to head to after long days at work, the place we went to celebrate our engagement, the birth of Benjamin and all other milestone events in our lives. I stopped off at the bar on my hen night and Ben even presented us with a free shot.

Best bit? Happy hour is 4-7pm, 5 nights a week – I recommend the cosmo, it’s the best I’ve tasted! They also do a perfect non-alcoholic mojito, which I pretty much lived on during my pregnancy with Benjamin!

Las Iguanas

Bournemouth’s newly opened branch of Mexican restaurant Las Iguanas, situated in the vibrant BH2 leisure complex, is the perfect place to go for a laid back dinner and drinks. We recently went for a date night and I can confirm that the beef burrito was the best I’ve ever tasted.

They have 2 for 1 cocktails all day, everyday and they aren’t stingy on their drink decor – I had the Watermelon Margarita and it was totally Instagram- worthy!
Slug & Lettuce

Another chain offering, but this is a firm favourite, again due to the brilliant 2 for 1 offer on cocktails. At the bottom of Richmond Hill, this is a great place to start your night, or to go for a girly lunch with friends.

I recently went with my uni girls and we enjoyed a break from shopping with a couple of cheeky cocktails. I had my eye on the Tapas ‘Tails, four mini cocktails! I am a big fan of their menu lately too especially the sharing board.
Be at One

The newest bar in town – Be at One (handily located opposite Slug & Lettuce, perfect for bar hopping) officially launched this week and I was lucky enough to attend their opening night where I sipped on a pornstar martini and got a little mum drunk, taking selfies in their (totally beautiful) pink toilets!

Great for a girls night, I think this will fast become popular as a weekend destination for those of us who don’t have 3 kids and a *soon to be* husband waiting at home!

Koh Lounge

Back in April I attended the launch of the Koh Lounge, situated on Poole Hill, just next door to the Koh Thai restaurant.

Perfect for after work drinks, with a delicious tapas style menu if you’re feeling peckish, this is a beautiful chilled out place to go to relax and unwind and drink seriously yummy cocktails. I had the Kohtini and it was delicious!

Hilton Level8 Sky Bar

Having worked for Hilton during its pre-opening, I saw the bar literally being built before my eyes. I would do my hard hat show rounds, not really being able to visualise how this high rise bar would look when it was finished. I think it’s safe to say the work paid off and Level8 is truly a beautiful place to go for drinks.

I love how quirky the cocktail menu is, and I must admit, being a child at heart, my favourite has to be the Bournemouth Pier Martini (it has actual candy floss on it)!
