Our Easter in County Durham

So, last week I decided on the spur of the moment to join my mum and sister on a trip up north to spend Easter with my brother and his wife at their home in Chester-Le-Street, County Durham.

We set off at 4.30am on Friday morning and didn’t arrive until 1.30pm – lonnnnng journey! We went to the local park that afternoon. They had a mini fairground, which the children loved.

My brother has a dog called Arya who the kids love as well, so it was nice for them to spend some time burning off energy after the long journey.

As we were completely knackered from the long drive, we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing back at the house before a yummy dinner of chicken pasta cooked by my brother. The others went out for a drink that evening and I stayed in and watched a film with my mum. It was nice to spend some quality time with her.

On Saturday we had our Easter egg exchange a day early as we were driving back home on Sunday and we went out for lunch at a nearby restaurant. The food was really yummy but so filling, I didn’t even have enough room to finish my food (unheard of) and couldn’t manage a dessert. It was really good food and value for money, especially for the children who got a drink, a good sized main and an ice cream cone for just £3.99.

After lunch we stocked up on snacks to take us through the rest of the day, and we settled back home with a couple of films before a family game of Balderdash.

On Sunday we had a pizza buffet before the long drive back home. It may not sound that exciting but for me it was perfect – spending time with family along with plenty of food and chocolate!
