If your kids are anything like mine, it gets to this point in the school year and their shoes are already starting to have seen better days. Enter Start-Rite, whose shoes are much harder wearing than your everyday supermarket shoe. Built to last, and offering a huge range of style options to suit children from primary right through to secondary school, these shoes can last them the whole year through.
We received them over the Easter break and will be reviewing them fully ahead of the new school year starting in August, but for now I wanted to share my first impressions, along with some pictures of how well-made these school shoes are, as I was really impressed when we unboxed them.
First up is my youngest’s, who is in year 4 and dislikes about 95% of school shoes out there. He was really happy with this style (Luke) on the website, and loved them when he saw them up close. One happy (fussy) nine year old!

My daughter is another one who can be difficult to please. She’s 13 and has autism, so it can be hard to work out which shoe style will be best for her, as she can find some styles a sensory issue. She was happy with this Embrace pair, which are fairly simple but still feminine. The buckles were a bit tricky for her on first try-on, but I am confident she will get used to doing these.

My eldest is in year 10, aged 15 and already 6ft3! Finding him school shoes can be a problem because he is in men’s sizes, but I was impressed how big the Start-Rite sizes went up to – very accommodating, and he really likes this Academy style, which look super smart with his school uniform.

Three happy children/teens ready to start their summer term. Watch this space and come back for our full review of how these shoes last, ahead of the next term…
Thanks Start-Rite for sending over the shoes for us to review. Check out their website for the full range – there’s honestly so many to pick from!
This post features products sent for review, however all words and images are my own.
