I’ve had a pretty tough few weeks and I won’t lie, my mental health has really taken a hit. I have been trying to take things at a slower pace, reminding myself that I don’t have to push myself too hard, that everything can wait. As a result, I have started to feel better, to come through the other side, and to begin to feel like myself again. These are some of the things I have been prioritising….
Reading
I absolutely love to read but I just haven’t found time for it in so long. My TBR pile was getting out of hand so it was about time I got stuck in. I have finished three books in under a week and am now on my fourth and am loving making time to read again. It is such a good escape, and helps keep my brain fresh too, I feel. My favourite genre is a thriller, and I am a sucker for anything by Stephen King.

Sunshine
Everything feels better when the sun is shining so I have been loving the sun finally making an appearance over the past few days. I am a sun worshipper so when the summer comes round I can be found making the most of those blue skies, sunbathing out in the garden, at the park or by the sea.

Chilled Outfits
Speaking of sun, my favourite season is almost upon us and I love getting the summer wardrobe back out of storage, but I am also a sucker for some new pieces and I was recently sent across some from Cotton Traders including this really cosy, casual outfit, perfect for the spring/summer transition. The longline cotton shirt is lovely and soft and would also look great slung over the top of a white cami, or as a cover up later in the year, by the pool or beach. The crop denim jeans are elasticated, which is brilliant if you are feeling a bit conscious of your tummy, and the feather sandals are my new favourites, such a pretty design!

Family Time
I am very big on family and I make sure I spend a lot of time with them, especially when the sun is shining and it’s easy to head over to my mum’s garden to chill with a glass of something cold or a barbecue whilst the children play football or frisbee.
Slow Weekends
For such a long time I booked up our weekends far in advance, wanting to make sure we ‘made the most’ of our time off from work and school, but now I realise how good it feels to have some slow weekends too, those weekends where nothing much is planned and you have the freedom to say yes to invites, or spontaneous trips to the beach, or can head to your mum’s for a barbecue with family if you wish. Life is so short and time is so precious, it’s important to remember how to slow down and to take time for yourself.

How do you take time for yourself in spring/summer?
