Even if you try to keep up with the top gardening trends every year, things can get in the way. Suddenly, it’s summertime and your garden looks a mess. It’s not fit for purpose and there could be who-knows how many critters and creatures taking up residence in the grass and amongst the foliage. But don’t fret, you can spruce up your garden to prepare it for summer. Just check out these handy tips.

Trim Back the Hedges

You probably let your garden grow a little wild over the winter, so the first thing you’ll need to do is trim back the hedges and trees to stop your garden feeling so claustrophobic. Errant branches can make the garden feel smaller, and risk safety hazards, especially if they have thorns. Take an afternoon to trim back all the hedges and bushes around your perimeter to make the garden look and feel more spacious.

Make A Space to Entertain

If you love to entertain, you also need a space to host, whether you’re throwing a BBQ or your kids have a party with all their school friends. Whatever the reason, you need somewhere for people to hang out. Investing in patio kits can add plenty of benefits (including value) to your home and provide a sleek, sophisticated outdoor space. You can also consider a firepit or paved area in the middle of your garden for a table and chairs to make it the perfect space to eat dinner outside on those warm evenings.

Capture More Light

Since you want to spend more time outside during the summer, you can find ways to capture more light so your garden feels brighter and stays bright for longer. A common solution is painting the walls white around your garden. You can also use white flowers to reflect the light. Another option could be installing lights around the common area so you and your guests can hang out as long as you like.

Bring In More Colour

You can also make your garden more attractive by bringing in more colour. Planting colourful plants and flowers is the best way to add personality and vibrant appeal to your garden. Pick a variety of perennials to line your flower beds with so the colours return every year, making your garden easier to manage and look stunning.

Keep It Organised

An organised garden is much more enjoyable than a cluttered space so it’s always worth looking for ways to keep everything organised. Investing in a shed or outdoor garden storage box can keep your tools, furniture, cushions toys or games in great condition all year round and put them away whenever you need if you’re having people over so they don’t trip or hurt themselves.

Spruced

Sprucing up your garden can take a couple of weeks or you can make some quick fixes over the weekend so it’s at least acceptable. Whatever you decide, it needs to be somewhere you can relax, entertain friends, let your kids play, and bask in the relaxed vibes you only get during the summer.
