Living through a pandemic for the past two years has caused a number of people to lose sight of who they are and struggle to get back on track as normality slowly resumes. The first thing you need to know is that losing confidence during Covid is completely normal, and is certainly not something you should be ashamed of. When it comes to getting your confidence back you need to adopt a gentle approach that helps you to find your new normal. Consider some of the ideas below if you need a boost to your self-esteem as you find your way back on track after the pandemic.
Explore the Root of Your Insecurities
During lockdown, you may have lost your confidence due to a number of different things. Many people have found that weight gain has contributed to their lack of self esteem because getting out of the house and exercising has been so difficult. Whether you’re looking into healthy eating regimes or considering a gastric balloon consultation with a professional, there are a number of ways to work on your insecurities so that you can feel like the happiest and healthiest version of yourself.
Find Social Activities That Make You Feel Comfortable
If heading to a small, cramped bar still makes you feel uncomfortable, then you should feel empowered to say “no” if necessary. Pick and choose the activities that you are comfortable with such as outdoor walks or picnics in the park; slowly easing your way back into socializing is the best approach as we come out of the other end of the pandemic.

Ease Back into Normal Life
Forcing yourself to resume to business as usual is going to be disruptive to your mental health and it may put undue pressure on yourself to recover. Your self confidence should always come first, so try to be kind to yourself. If your place of work is offering to keep you at home then you may want to consider this as an option if it makes you feel more comfortable.
Find Out What Makes You Light Up
It is very easy to lose your purpose and passions when we have just lived through a two year pandemic; reassessing what makes you light up can help you to get back on track and gain your confidence back. Discovering new creative outlets such as learning a new language, playing an instrument, painting or creative writing can help you to rediscover your passions again and reignite your confidence to the next level.
There are a number of reasons why you might be feeling a slight slump with regards to the coronavirus and getting back to normal. You may not feel ready to resume life as normal, which is completely understandable. In this situation, it’s important to be kind to yourself, remember that everyone else is probably experiencing similar emotions and talk to your loved ones about how you’re feeling. In time, you will start to feel ready to confidently enter the world again at your own pace.
