On Saturday morning, I started my weekend off in the perfect way with a brunch at Delish Deli in Westbourne with three other lovely bloggers who I hadn’t seen for a while. Delish Deli is situated in the heart of Westbourne, just a fifteen minute walk from Bournemouth town centre. Don’t let its small frontage deceive you, as it is beautiful inside, with gorgeous Art Deco vibes and that Instagrammable look that will have you reaching for your smartphone to snap your food as it comes out.
Delish Deli is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between, including the most intriguing alternative to afternoon tea, afternoon cheese – yes please! We were presented with a drinks menu and I simply had to order a smoothie, which was served in the biggest glass and tasted absolutely gorgeous. Ciara had a tea, and it came in the prettiest cup with a little side spoon of fudge – she let me have it and it was delicious!
Our breakfast boards came out and it was an Instagram dream, everything looked so good, we didn’t know where to begin! I was naughty and went for all the sweet stuff before savoury, but I did really enjoy my first savoury croissant, filling it with deli meats and Emmental cheese. I can also confirm that both the pancakes and waffle with syrup tasted divine, and the addition of berries and a yummy granola, yoghurt and honey pot had me feeling a little less sinful than I usually would when eating breakfast out (although the temptingly sweet mini muffin combatted this). If you are trying to be healthy though, Delish Deli have a wellness inspired nutritional menu that you can opt for when you visit.
We were also given mimosas, to toast the occasion, and I was impressed with the prosecco to orange juice ratio, leaving me feeling just the right amount of tipsy as our breakfast date drew to a close. A trip to the ladies had me educated on the background behind Delish Deli (it’s written on the door). Owners Matt and Hilary used to be cabin crew before the pandemic hit, and have started the business with great success so far, especially considering the numerous lockdowns and issues the hospitality industry has faced.
I had only been to Delish Deli once before, which was for another event, but I will definitely go back as they have so many gorgeous dishes on the menu. It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends, or as a treat for families, but equally it would work well for private functions. I love the styling both inside and out – it’s definitely a spot to visit when you are in the area.
I headed to the charity shops after brunch, and then took the short walk over to the beach for a walk along to Bournemouth with my dad. It really was the perfect start to the weekend.
