Collaborative Post

With Spring tantalisingly around the corner, and the promise of being able to get out and spend more time with other people over the coming months, I have been paying extra special attention to my skincare recently to get my skin in tip top condition for the new season. Cetaphil have plenty of tips and advice on how to cleanse depending on your type of skin, and will shortly be releasing an ebook on the subject, which has inspired me to share my own morning and evening skincare routine with you today.

Wash the Sleep Away

First thing in the morning, before I even get a workout in, I wash my face to freshen up. Using cold water helps me to wake myself up a little, working as a natural toner and getting the skin looking refreshed.

Cleanse and Hydrate

I repeat the previous step, after my workout, adding a foam cleanser to really get all the oils and dirt off and then a facial oil to hydrate.

Quench Thirsty Skin

My skin is combination, with oily and dry patches, but I find that I need to properly nourish the skin in the morning, to help keep dryness at bay throughout the day. I use a fairly thick day cream, letting it sink in fully before I apply my makeup primer.

Double Cleanse

In the evening, I spend a lot of time on my face, having been guilty of using cleansing wipes as my only skincare regime for much too long in the past. I cleanse with a water based cleanser initially and then with a foam cleanser afterwards to fully clean my face and have it looking and feeling fresh.

Gentle Scrub

I have started to use a gentle exfoliator a few times a week, to help minimise my pores, and give my skin a little renewal when it needs some extra love and attention.

Tone and Moisturise

I used to be awful about using a toner, avoiding them at all costs as I found some would irritate my skin. Lately I have made sure it has become a firm staple of my skincare regime, using a simple gentle spray toner to make it quick, simple and pain free. I follow this up with hydrating oil and a lovely creamy, rich moisturiser that helps to properly nourish my skin whilst I sleep.

Don’t Forget the Eyes!

I finish with an eye cream, just before I head off to sleep, so that it can work its wonders overnight. I am so conscious about the small lines that are starting to form at the corners of my eyes now that I am in my thirties, and I am religious about patting on a good eye cream to help prevent them from worsening as time goes by, whilst also brightening the dark circles under my eyes from all the home schooling stress over the past few months!

Having a proper skincare routine, morning and night, has been a real game changer for me recently, and I can definitely see a difference in the overall condition of my skin. As I am in my thirties now, I am trying to make a conscious effort to really take care of myself, starting with my skincare.

This is a collaborative post with Cetaphil, however all words are my own.
