Press Visit
I’ve been having various treatments at The Skin Clinic Company in Westbourne for the past month or so and I love visiting as everybody is so friendly and welcoming. It really does feel like a treat to head over for my appointments. My latest treatment was Profhilo, which I hadn’t actually heard of before Dr Tara went through the list of treatments on offer at the clinic and recommended it to me as an alternative to fillers.
Known as the “injectable moisturiser”, it can be used on different areas including the face, neck and décolletage as well as your arms, hands or knees. Made up of hyaluronic acid, Profhilo works to tighten and lift skin, whilst brightening it.
I was a little apprehensive when I arrived for my first treatment (you have a course of two for Profhilo, around 6-8 weeks apart) mainly as I hadn’t had injectables before, but Dr Tara put my mind at rest right away. She explained everything that would happen during the appointment, showed me what she would be injecting and let me know the sort of sensation it would be for me She then applied a numbing cream, which is optional, but definitely helped to decrease the stinging when the needle went in to my skin for the first time.

Tara also used a vibrating gold device which works by distracting your touch sensors as the needle penetrates the skin. It definitely worked for me as I was unable to have this for the second treatment and I could feel it more intensely.
As the needle went in and the Profhilo was injected in, it felt like a sharp scratch, not that dissimilar to when having blood tests at the doctors surgery, and then it felt like the needle was drawing a line across slightly each time. I have watched the video clips I took and it definitely didn’t do this, so that must have been the contents of the needle entering my body. It was a little painful, but not unbearable, and Dr Tara is really quick, making things as pain-free as possible.
There is barely any downtime after the treatment, you should avoid wearing makeup and exercising or drinking heavily for 12 hours afterwards (mainly to avoid your face flushing and as it increases the risk of infection and bruising), but other than that you’re good to get up and go right away. There are some side effects, which I was talked through before the treatment but I was fortunate enough not to have anything happen to me.
Results can take a week or so but I found that the next morning my skin was glowing and I felt so much more confident without makeup. I have also noticed that my face looks different in photos since having it done, it’s made me feel much more confident and I’ve had lots of compliments too.

I recently went back to have the second treatment and have now seen the final results, which I am more than happy with. As I said, the second time felt slightly more stingy as I didn’t have the face vibrator that time, so I would recommend it if you’re a bit nervous or have a low pain threshold.
I definitely recommend Profhilo if you are looking for an alternative to fillers or botox. My skin has improved and my confidence has skyrocketed. I love how my skin looks now.

I was provided with two treatments of Profhilo, however all words and images are my own.
