If you follow me on social media, you may already have seen that our family expanded at the beginning of the week, when we picked up our puppy Bella, who is eight weeks old. We met her at six weeks, and have been impatiently waiting the past two weeks until we could bring her home. The children have been so excited, and they are over the moon now that Bella is here and settling in.

Neither Ed or I have had dogs before, so it is all brand new for us, and we have been reading up and getting advice on puppy care and training, but at the moment, Bella is being lovely and chilled out, sleeping well and getting on really well with the three children.
Benjamin has probably found it the hardest to adjust as he is four and the baby of the family still, as the youngest. He seems a bit jealous, but once alone with me and the puppy, he was very affectionate and caring, so I think the key is to make sure he has some time with Bella, without his older siblings around to get them used to each other.

We have known we wanted a dog for a long time, but had been waiting to get out of rented property before we took the step, and in the end the decision was a quick one, as we fell in love with Bella the moment we met her. She is a Sprocker Spaniel, so we are in for a rollercoaster ride as she grows up, but we are prepared for lots of long walks, and keeping her active, with the three children to play with, shouldn’t be an issue.

Bella has only been with us a short time, but we are already besotted, much like a newborn baby, I cannot imagine our life without her in it now. The aspects of having a dog I was unsure about beforehand have come naturally to me, and I am so pleased that we made the decision to get her. We are enjoying the time, during lockdown, at home all together, but I can’t wait to introduce Bella to the extended family as soon as we are able to, as everybody has fallen in love from the pictures!

I will be sharing updates about Bella going forward, so look out for lots more puppy spam!
