3 Bournemouth Bars for Grown-Ups

1812

1812, located just up from the centre of town, opposite the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) has always been the place that’s over 21s in town. I had only been in a few times, even once I reached my twenties, as I wasn’t too keen on the atmosphere, or the drinks.

They recently had a huge makeover, and I was lucky enough to be invited along once they launched, to take a look around the new bar, restaurant and seating areas, all of which look beautiful following the refurbishment.

I loved that the lady’s cloakroom area had GHDs- always wishing there were straighteners around during night’s out when the typical British weather attacks!

As well as being a lovely place to visit, 1812 also offer a fantastic range of drinks including cocktails, which I was more than happy to try out. I have heard good things about their food as well, so I’ll have to go back soon.

Urban Garden

I have previously visited one of the other venues under the Urban Guild umbrella, so I knew I would like the newly launched Urban Garden, which is in the centre of town, just back from the Gardens – a proper hidden gem.

This cosy hideaway is the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail or two whilst catching up with friends. I have been fortunate enough to try out making my own cocktail behind their bar and, let me tell you, it’s harder than it looks!

You can also eat at the venue, or enjoy some nibbles whilst enjoying your drinks. The best bit? Urban Garden is dog friendly, so you don’t have to miss out if you need to take care of your four legged friend.

Eden

I must include Eden in every one of these type of posts. They don’t pay me, or anything, I simply love this often overlooked intimate bar, opposite Hilton hotel. Ed and I used to go for a drink here after we finished work, back when I was still working in events, and it soon became ‘our place’, meaning we went on to have our engagement drinks there, and almost had our UK blessing wedding reception there too. A must visit if you are in the area.

I hope this post has given you some ideas of where to go if you are looking for a more sophisticated vibe. I have been to press events with both 1812 and Urban Garden, but I was not asked to write this blog post. All words and images are my own.
