Hands up who loves summer? I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this season, mainly because I have seasonal affective disorder, which means I am clinically much happier and less anxious when the sun is shining and the days are longer, the skies bluer and everything generally brighter, but I am also terrified of all flying insects, especially wasps, which obviously go hand in hand with warm weather. Still, after the recent torrential rain, I am willing to embrace the summer season, and I have been switching up my wardrobe, ready for the warmer weather.
One item in my wardrobe that has quickly become a firm staple, is a simple white bodysuit from New Look. I picked it out because I thought it would look lovely with a wrap skirt I had chosen, but I soon realised that I wear it with lots of my summer clothes, so I thought I would share the four ways I am styling my white bodysuit this summer.
The Sheer Shirt Dress*
I have never really worn a shirt dress before as I am self conscious about how broad my shoulders are, and I worry that they might accentuate this area. I was recently sent across a white floral frill shirt dress from wholesale retailer J5 Fashion, and I actually quite like how this style of dress looks on me.
Having said this, the dress is quite sheer material, and therefore it is slightly see-through. I opted to wear the white bodysuit underneath, and this works really well (especially when the wind picks up and the dress decides to fly into the air). You could also add a belt, if you wanted to cinch in the waist a little and give the dress a little more shape.
The Pink Jumpsuit*
I have already mentioned how much I love the summer range from Kit and Kaboodal, and this blush pink jumpsuit is great to throw on when you are in a hurry.
I love how it looks with the white bodysuit underneath, the white makes the pink stand out a little more, and it is great if you are conscious of your shoulders and don’t like the thin straps of the jumpsuit.
The Floral Maxi Dress
I am a huge fan of a floral dress for summer. This one from Primark is really affordable, and can easily be dressed up or down (I recently wore it with a pair of heels and a blazer to a 21st birthday party).
The white bodysuit gives it a more laid back, daytime vibe, perfect for garden parties and picnics, or a lunch date over summer.
The Skirt and Body
This skirt is another primark buy, and I love how it looks with the white bodysuit (I have also worn it with a black bodysuit, and it looks brilliant either way).
The subtle floral pattern gives it a summery vibe, whilst the colour is something a little different. I am hoping to get a bit of a tan this summer, and I think this outfit will look great come September with a oversized cardigan, when the weather starts cooling down a little.
