How fast has the last year gone? I can’t believe Ed and I will be celebrating our first anniversary in a couple of months time, it doesn’t seem that long ago that we were saying our vows in front of our closest friends and family overlooking the beautiful caldera in Santorini.
My dad and his partner are actually going to be back at the hotel we stayed at in Santorini over our anniversary, and we would have loved to have gone over as well, but now Ed is a teacher, it just isn’t feasible at that time of year.
So instead we have decided on something more low key and local to commemorate our first year as man and wife. We haven’t booked anywhere just yet but we are looking at either Cornwall, the New Forest, or possibly one of the hotels we have right here on our doorstep in Bournemouth.
When I was at an event recently at The Greenhouse Hotel, we had a tour of the bedrooms and their rooms are gorgeous with roll top baths that look like they were made for Instagram!
As well as a hotel stay and nice meal, I am looking into what I can get Ed as a gift. The first anniversary is ‘paper’, so I have been looking into what I can get that incorporates this, possibly a gift voucher, but I would love to be more creative so I need to get my thinking cap on!
I love that our anniversary is right at the start of September, as it marks the beginning of a fresh start each year with the kids and Ed heading back to school. There’s something lovely about celebrating our marriage, and the year gone by, and then looking forward to the year ahead.
What did you do to celebrate your first year of marriage? Do you have any suggestions for paper gifts?
