On Saturday I was invited along to the newly opened DFMA Makeup Bar in Westbourne for a professional makeover.
DFMA are predominantly a makeup academy with courses across the country, but they have opened their doors in Westbourne to provide professional makeup for all.
I had originally been planning on going out after having my makeup done, but as we had gone out the night before, I just had a night in with a takeaway Nando’s, watching the Eurovision Song Contest ahead of me.
Still, it’s nice to be pampered, and when I arrived at DFMA I was instantly made to feel special. As I took a seat on one of the stools I was offered a glass of Prosecco, which I accepted along with a glass of water with raspberries – so refreshing.
My makeup artist asked whether I had any ideas for my makeup but I said I would be happy for her to make a decision. I did mention I liked to match my makeup to my outfit, so she went for a pink smokey eye to go with my baby pink top and blazer.
I happily sat back and chatted away whilst my makeup was taken off (generally a good idea to go along makeup free, but I was feeling a little worse for wear and couldn’t handle going bare-faced).
My makeup artist got to work, expertly applying products (both high end brands such as MAC and their own DFMA brand as well) and transforming my face in front of my eyes.
The atmosphere was lovely in the salon. In front of every stool is a mirror surrounded by spotlights, which was brilliant for lighting and so instagrammable!
The makeover is priced at £35 and includes optional lashes – I went for a few individual ones to finish the look whilst keeping it simple.
I loved my eyes, the pink colours worked really well with my outfit, and my eyes totally popped in the photos.
As with hairdressers, I think it’s so much better when a makeup artist is able to keep a conversation going whilst they work, and the girls at DFMA are so friendly and bubbly, they had me totally at ease from the start and I found myself really enjoying the time I was there.
After my look was finished, we headed over to their dedicated selfie station, complete with ring light, to take some snaps. I absolutely love how I looked – feminine and slightly seductive, without being over the top.
The girls mentioned they offer group bookings for birthdays and hen parties, and I think it would work really well to go along with your friends, enjoy a glass or two of bubbly and have your makeup done ready for a night on the town.
Although, as I mentioned, I didn’t end up going out afterwards, I loved my look and kept the makeup on until I went to bed when I’m happy to report that I was able to take the makeup off nice and easily.
I will be going back to DFMA for my next birthday, and I’ll be keeping them in mind for the next time I have an important event I want to look my best for.
I was invited along to the DFMA Makeup Bar and provided with a complimentary makeover for the purpose of this review, however all opinions and photos are my own.
