Beauty – Relaxing & Unwinding with the Detox & Calm Beauty Box from allbeauty

I am going to let you in on a secret. I’m a blogger, who writes about beauty, and I have never tried a beauty box before. With so many to choose from these days, I think I have become a bit overwhelmed about which one to go for.

When allbeauty emailed me offering to send over their new limited edition box, of course I said yes. It was about time I gave a beauty box a go, and what better box to start with than one that was brand new?

Unlike subscription boxes, this is a one time purchase, and as it’s limited edition, once it is gone, it’s gone!

When I received the box through in the post, my first impression was how lovely the packaging was. I am a huge sucker for good branding, and I loved that the box, tissue paper, and literature inside was all themed with allbeauty’s trademark shade of blue.

The box had a Detox theme, aiming to provide products to help relax and unwind, whilst lifting your spirits. Having had a rather stressful few weeks, this couldn’t have come at a better time for me.

I was excited to find out what was included in the box, and happily unpacked everything. Having nothing to compare it to, I wasn’t sure how it matched up to other beauty boxes out there, but when I posted a photo onto Instagram, people commented on how good value the box was, with a good mix of full size items and samples, from established companies such as Bomb Cosmetics and Luxury brands like Decleor & Gatineau.

I was most looking forward to trying out the Overnight Lavender Mask from Manuka Doctor – my skin has been looking fairly dull and dry lately, largely down to the weather and lack of sleep. I put the mask on overnight, and I woke up feeling like my skin had been properly pampered.

The Decleor body milk was also fantastic, leaving my skin feeling soft and hydrated from the first use.

The seaweed bath soak from The Organic Pharmacy, provided a nice change from my usual bath bombs. It really felt like it was doing some good, and was so relaxing!

I don’t tend to use bars of soap, but I am conscious that the packaging on dispense soaps is fairly bad for the environment, so I was intrigued to try the Bomb Cosmetics one out. With a really fresh scent of limes, this soap looks fantastic in my bathroom.

The box also included some sample sized products. I haven’t gotten around to using the retexturizing beauty cream from Gatineau just yet, but I have tried both of the fragrances that were in the box, and I loved the Obsessed scent from Calvin Klein, and Ed liked the Versace Dylan Blue for men.

I am a creature of habit when it comes to toothpaste, and I very rarely try anything different, but I was interested to see whether the Regenerate toothpaste would reverse signs of erosion, as it promised to, especially as I have had bad luck with my teeth in the past and they are not in the best shape these days.

The toothpaste has a bit of a strange taste to it, that I am not a big fan of, but overall it does seem to work better than our usual brand, so I will stick with it for the time being.

The Argan Oil shampoo sample was a bit of a disappointment. I never get on well with sachets, as half the product ends up on the shower floor, and I found it left my hair a bit too greasy.

It’s always a bit hit and miss with hair products as it is largely dependant on hair type as to whether it will work for you. As my hair does tend to get greasy fast, I usually avoid these types of shampoos, and instead use a conditioner just on the ends of my hair, which are prone to getting dry, instead.

Overall I was really impressed with my first beauty box, and it has made me want to try out more. I think as beauty boxes go, this one, which is £25 with free 2 day delivery, is reasonably priced for the amount of items you get inside.

I was particularly impressed with the overnight mask, and the soap from Bomb Cosmetics has won me over, and prompted me to make a purchase on their website of several of their blasters and a shower butter.

I was sent the Detox & Calm beauty box to trial ahead of its recent launch, however all opinions and photos are my own.

I love beauty boxes and I do agree with you that they do get a bit much and then the brands become repetitive. Great selection of products in this box though x

I used to buy beauty boxes and I don’t anymore, I prefer to buy the products I want. However, I do love that through them you try different products you either haven’t heard from or that you thought wouldn’t work for you, but actually they do! £25 is a fab price too 🙂 xo
