It may not come as a shock to you, but I’m more than a little obsessed with my iPhone.
It’s actually pretty scary how addicted I’ve become. I’m never usually more than 20cm away from my phone, even when I’m at work. I charge it by the bed and check it before I get up and start the day. I can waste hours just skipping from one app to another. Huge amounts of time are lost on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and I may as well live in Pinterest (how amazing would that be though?!).
Im hoping that some time away with my mum and the children will help me to detach myself a little from my phone (although I’ll be checking in occasionally cos fear of missing out is real).
I long to go back to basics sometimes, in a simpler time when people didn’t have access to everything and everyone (whilst at the same time not really connecting with anyone) at the touch of a button.
I would love to have the self control to ban myself from my phone, to wean myself off of social media, but the thing is, my blog thrives on interaction of these websites. That’s just the world we live in now.
Instead I will aim to have one evening a week totally free from my phone. It’s a more achievable challenge for me but it’s still making me feel a little anxious, which makes me know it’s the right thing to do. If I can’t even bear being apart from my phone for a few hours then what hope is there for me, really?
P.S In case you are wondering, I am currently away in Devon with my family and this post has been scheduled in advance. I promise I’m not blogging on my time off!
Are you obsessed with your phone? Do you have any advice on how to break the habit?
