Our Girls Weekend in Bath

I have two amazing friends I met at university when we were all studying events management in Bournemouth and I don’t get to see them anywhere near enough. Our lives have changed a fair bit since uni and we are now spread out across the country so trying to find time when we can all be free is challenging.

We managed to finally set a date for a girls weekend and looking at where to go, Bath seemed like a good option that wasn’t too far from us all and was somewhere nice to explore and use as a base for our girly catch up. I had a look online and came across the Wheelbrook Mill guest house in Laverton, just outside of Bath. It was around our price range and looked beautiful so we booked it.

We arrived at midday Saturday and managed to check in early and had a chance to ooh and ahh over our gorgeous room before heading out in one car to Bath town centre for some lunch.

We were all feeling a little hangry and ended up eating at TGIs simply because it was close to where we parked. I was a little disappointed with our lunch as I went for duck fajitas and in my opinion, what I actually got was duck pancakes. I also didn’t manage to take any food photos (shock horror!) as I was so hungry and kind of demolished everything before having a chance to photograph it so, yeah..

After lunch we headed back out and window shopped for the rest of the afternoon. We found lots of really cool quirky little gift shops, which we loved looking at. I took along my DSLR but didn’t manage to take that many photos as it was blooming freezing!

We stocked up on lots of snacks and went back to the hotel for the night. It was so snug and homely in our room and it felt like we were back at uni again. We all snuggled up together in bed and had our snacks and watched films and Saturday night tv whilst chatting and having a good catch up. It was perfect for us.

The next morning we were treated to an amazing breakfast with everything we could ask for. The guest house owners are so friendly and helpful and couldn’t have been more accommodating. I had a croissant, bowl of fresh fruit, toast and a cooked breakfast as well. It was so nice and totally filled me up.

We weren’t sure what to do but our hosts were quick to suggest several options including nearby Bradford on Avon which was what we opted for. It was a lovely little picture perfect town with a canal and lots of traditional old buildings.

It was so lovely seeing the girls again and we are already planning our next get together as well as celebrating our ten years of friendship next year (cannot believe it will have been 10 years since we started uni next year!).

I would definitely recommend the Wheelbrook Mill guest house for anyone looking to stay near Bath. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, the location is perfect for visiting Bath and other local towns and attractions, the rooms are spacious and can accommodate more than 2 adults, something we really struggle to find, and the breakfast is brilliant. It is also possible to hire out the entire house if you are looking to stay with several people- perfect for a break away with the girls or a get together for couple friends.

The guest house would also be brilliant for families as they have a treehouse and zip wire, swings and plenty of space to run around and let off steam. The owners have also been on Four in a Bed (although for another previous property they owned) and have plenty of local knowledge and experience in the business. As for me, I am already planning another trip with Ed as I know he will love it there.
