Although restrictions have now eased, lockdowns over the past 18 months have proved that virtual events are not only possible but actually more convenient, allowing people from all over the UK, and across the world, to join together for an event over video call platforms. I was excited to be invited along to a Greek inspired cocktail masterclass with Jet2holidays last week. I was sent across all the ingredients and equipment I would need to make the cocktails in advance, the hamper arrived the day before from Mixology, and I was really excited to see so many lovely bits and pieces.
On the night, I unpacked everything and laid it out on the table in front of me ready, and logged on to the video call. The lovely host at Mixology started us off with a welcome drink, which was lovely, and then explained what we would be doing throughout the evening. It was all very relaxed and informal, and I was surprised to find how much more confident I felt than I usually would at group blogging events, despite there being quite a few of us on the call.
Although I didn’t need to, I had dressed up and was wearing heels, and I soon got into the swing of things and really enjoyed making the next few cocktails, which were all delicious and pretty strong! It was fantastic to have all the ingredients in little bottles, with the garnishes in little bags too, ready to use. We even set one of our cocktails on fire, which was pretty impressive!
I was drinking cocktails, but there was the option to make mocktails, for those avoiding alcohol for whatever reason, and the host was sure to explain what we needed, whichever option we had gone for. At the end of the session, we were given the challenge to create our very own Greek inspired cocktail, for the chance to win a holiday to Greece with Jet2 Holidays. I didn’t win, with my Santorini by Night concoction, but it was great fun trying and seeing what everybody else made too!
For anybody interested, these are the ingredients I used to make my cocktail:
1 shot Rhubarb Collins
1 shot Bacardi rum
1 shot spiced rum
2 shot pineapple juice
Cubed Ice
Wedge and squeeze of lime
Dash of angostura bitters
Grenadine drizzle
Wedge of lime as garnish
The lovely girls at Jet2holidays provided some information on the company, and how travel is getting back on track since the ease of restrictions, they have definitely got me dreaming of a Greek getaway in the sunshine – maybe next year!
