Press Visit
I have been making a conscious effort over the past few months to push myself out of my comfort zone, to try new things and to cook more interesting meals for myself. When I was invited along to try out Pan Asian food at Drgnfly, which is based in Ashley Cross in Poole, I was a little unsure of what to expect as it is a new cuisine for me, but I knew I wanted to give it a try.

I went along with two fellow bloggers, Emma-Louise and Amy, who were brilliant company and it felt like a proper girly catch up, which is just what I needed. Although the atmosphere and decor in Drgnfly is brilliant, we opted to sit outside as it had been so hot the past few days and the cool breeze was lovely, plus we are bloggers and the natural lighting was fantastic for our photos…

We ordered cocktails to enjoy in the evening sunshine whilst deciding what we would like to eat from the menu. The girls were a little more confident than me and went for a sharing chef’s platter of sushi. I just personally don’t like the idea of eating raw fish, so that was a no for me. Instead I went for the Tori Katsu Curry.

To start, we decided to share a selection of the ‘nibbles’ from the menu, which was a great idea. We had Edamame with Viking Salt and Japanese Chilli, Crispy Nori (seaweed crisps with guacamole) and Ebe Senbei (prawn crackers), which were so moreish, the chilli jam dip was absolutely delicious.

When our mains came out, I couldn’t resist taking photos of the sushi as it was so artfully arranged – so pretty! I really enjoyed my curry, which was a really generously sized portion. I have only ever eaten Katsu Chicken once before, but I was pleased with the dish and would definitely order again. Emma-Louise had lived in Singapore, so was giving Amy and I a little lesson in what the sushi was, and teaching Amy how to pick it up with chopsticks. It was a really lovely evening.

We finished off our meals with dessert. I had the Berry Cheesecake, which was delicious, not too filling and nice and fresh with the berries on top and a side of ice cream. Amy had the Drgnfly Brownie and Emma-Louise had the Matcha Creme Brûlée, which also looked really yummy. Definitely leave room for dessert!

I enjoyed my first visit to Drgnfly, and my first experience of Pan Asian cuisine. There is a lot to choose from on the menu, so you are sure to find something, even if you are little hesitant about what you might like, as I was. The waiter we had was really knowledgeable about the menu, and happy to offer suggestions and advice when prompted. He was also friendly and offered to take a photo of us on the way out. I had a brilliant evening, and would recommend a visit to Drgnfly if you are looking for somewhere a little different for a dinner or special occasion.
I was invited along to Drgnfly and provided with a complimentary meal in exchange for an honest review. All words and images are my own.
