I have thick, damaged hair, which almost always looks like it needs a trim due to split ends from heat and bleach damage over the years. I had heard some people on social media discussing the L’oreal Elvive Dream Lengths Wonder Water, which only recently became available over here in the UK, and singing its praises about how amazing it was for the condition of their hair, so I figured I would see what all the hype was about and give it a go myself.
Never Heard of It?
Wonder Water is rinse-out hair treatment by L’oreal Paris Elvive, which claims to transform your hair with Lamellar Water Technology, requiring very little effort and time – it only needs to be on your hair for 8 seconds. It promises to make hair 10x smoother, with a glassy shine and silky touch. Sounds brilliant, right?
Putting it to the Test
So I wanted to try this self proclaimed wonder water for myself, to see if it would really do what it claims to and leave my hair in better condition. I applied my shampoo and conditioner as normal, and then went in with the Wonder Water. I was a little confused about how to open the lid, not realising I needed to twist the top of the cap off, and instead removing the whole lid, which definitely distributed too much product and was a waste. Luckily I got there in the end, and removing the top of the cap only gives you precise application to your hair, although I wasn’t keen on the consistency, after all, it is water, which has a tendency to run away easily! For a product which costs a tennner, you don’t really want it running down the drain.
Initial Thoughts
I loved how weightless the product was. As I mentioned, my hair is damaged but quite thick, and I had products that really weigh my hair down. This Wonder Water washed out super quickly, and left my hair really nice and soft. I decided to use it on my daughter’s hair as well, which is thicker than mine and gets knotty and tangled easily. After using it on her, I was able to brush through her hair without any fuss, and it looked so much softer and manageable afterwards.
Worthy of the Hype?
So, do I think it is worthy of the hype. In a word, yes, I really do. I have tried a lot of products in the past which promise to make my hair soft and shiny and smooth, and none have stood up to the challenge… until now. As you don’t need a huge amount each use, the bottle I bought initially is still going strong, which does make the price tag more affordable.
If you have dry, damaged hair, and are looking for a product that is going to help, I would definitely recommend considering the L’oreal Elvive Wonder Water, which has definitely left my hair in much better condition and touchably soft.
It is a little steep for what it is, in my opinion, but I recently restocked in Boots where it was on offer for half price, along with the heat defence spray from the same range. It is just like water, but it has left both mine and my daughter’s hair really soft and silky, so worth giving it a go anyway!
