I am a big fan of The Greyhound Inn, located opposite the Corfe Castle castle ruins, having visited a few times over the past couple of years, including a previous blogging event, with fellow Bournemouth Bloggers. They have an enviable position, overlooking the castle, and beautiful rural countryside, with outdoor seating areas which are dog and family friendly, making it the perfect summer dining destination for locals and those visiting the area on holiday. They also have indoor seating, for when the weather is a little colder, or if you prefer to sit indoors to eat.
I went along, thanks to an invite through Route PR, with my dad, who only recently relocated to the area from Essex, and who was very excited to see what all the fuss was about with The Greyhound. We were welcomed and shown to a table outside, at our request, as the sunny weather was holding out and it had turned into a lovely evening. We had some drinks whilst looking at the menu, and deciding what to have. The Sauvignon Blanc was one of the best I have had, and went down very well.
For our starters, my dad had the Thai Fishcake, which also comes as a main, if you would prefer. I opted to have a side dish in place of a starter, as I am addicted to Halloumi Fries, and I was not disappointed – they were so tasty! For mains, my dad went for the Ribeye Steak, which was absolutely incredible and so generously sized, and I had the Beef & Chorizo burger, which came with the most gorgeous thick cut chips, as well as two onion rings. I was absolutely stuffed by the end, but we made sure to save a little room for dessert, as there were so many incredible options to choose from.
In the end, I decided on the Oreo Brownie, as suggested by the waiter, and my dad had the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Both came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and they were the perfect way to round off our meal, although I was thankful for the opportunity to walk around the beautiful village, to attempt to work off all that food!
We had a lovely evening, the food was perfect, the atmosphere peaceful and relaxed, and the staff were accommodating, friendly and efficient. I couldn’t fault one bit of our visit, and my dad has already said he will be back for more! I am such a fan of The Greyhound Inn, that I don’t hesitate when asked where to go to eat when you are in the area, it is hands down one of my favourite places to go when we are out for the day. On the way through the village, a cyclist stopped us and asked where we would recommend to go for dinner and of course I said to come along to The Greyhound!
