The rules in England have relaxed a little further as of Monday this week, as we enter the second stage in the Government’s four stage roadmap our of lockdown. This means that you can now enjoy food and drink at pubs, cafes and restaurants as long as they have an outdoor area that you can sit in. You can also have beauty treatments and have your hair cut, visit theme parks and outdoor leisure attractions, or go to the gym, if that’s your thing (it really isn’t mine).

Since the rules relaxed, I haven’t done as much as I thought I would, and have been taking it nice and slowly to ease myself back into society, as it were. I think I had become so used to just staying inside our little bubble, that I didn’t really know what to do or where to go once we were allowed to again.

This week I have had my eyebrows waxed and tinted, had my first cocktail out in public (yes, it was just as chilly sitting outside as you can imagine), and tomorrow I am having my nails done and going for lunch with my dad and Ed at a lovely local pub. I really wanted to have my hair done this week, but I also wanted it to be fresh for my birthday in a few weeks time, so I have made the booking for the end of April – seeing other people get their hair highlighted is giving me all the FOMO right now, but it won’t be too much longer!

Other than that, I don’t really have much else planned over the next week or so, before my birthday. We have saved quite a bit of money from not being able to have treatments, hair cuts and meals out, so I don’t think we will be going crazy, even now the rules have been relaxed. I am looking forward to heading to my favourite little cocktail bar, Eden, as soon as possible, and I would love to go and get a massage as well, as sitting at my desk at work, even for a couple of days a week, is playing havoc with my back, neck and shoulders.

It seems so strange to think that just over a year ago, we would have taken all of these little things for granted, not realising that something could change the way we live our everyday lives. The pandemic has been a crazy rollercoaster, but I am so pleased that we seem to be getting somewhere with it now and hopefully we will have some normality back this year. Getting out and enjoying the things we have missed, is amazing for mental wellbeing, and I am really happy that we are able to do these things once more.

Have you done anything since we entered the second stage of the roadmap? I would love to know what you’ve been enjoying now that the rules have relaxed! Let me know in the comments..
