I realised I hadn’t written a post on what I have been watching for a long time, and there have been some excellent shows I have enjoyed. With the third lockdown, I feel all I have been doing in the evenings is sitting and watching TV. We have NOW TV, Amazon Prime and Disney+ but most of these shows are on Netflix.

The Haunting of Bly Manor – NETFLIX

If you liked The Haunting of Hill House, you will like Bly Manor, although the general consensus seems to be that it isn’t quite as good as the former. I really enjoyed watching this series, and was sad when I finished it. There are some twists and turns, and the acting is brilliant, especially the child actors. I highly recommend!

Firefly Lane – NETFLIX

Firefly Lane follows the story of two friends, spanning the decades, although primarily focusing on the seventies and 2000’s. As each episode goes on you learn more and more about their backstories, before a total cliffhanger ending, preparing for a season 2. This was a good watch, and doesn’t seem to have been seen by as many people as some of the others on my list. One to watch.

Bridgerton – NETFLIX

Obviously I had to include Bridgerton, the talk of the ton (haha) since it’s release. I have watched this twice now and really liked it, although I know some people have had mixed reviews. There is a lot of sex, a lot of drama, and I definitely see why it was dubbed as a period drama version of Gossip Girl.

Behind Her Eyes – NETFLIX

If you are a fan of a psychological thriller, you will like Behind Her Eyes, which has a lot of twists and turns and kept me guessing right up until the end. It is a bit of a mindfuck, and you will need to pay attention to the story, so not one for those who like to sit and scroll social media (guilty as charged).

The Crown -NETFLIX

I had previously watched most of The Crown with my mum, before the pandemic put paid to our weekly Monday TV night at mine. Series 4 was the one I had been waiting for though, following the story of Diana, Charles and Camilla. I absolutely loved how it was portrayed in the show, and was hooked throughout. I cannot wait for series 5!

The Queen’s Gambit – NETFLIX

I have never played chess before, so I was a bit dubious about watching a show focusing on a child chess prodigy, however I am glad that I did as it was brilliant! I downloaded a chess app after finishing watching the show, but after being beaten over and over again, I decided that chess wasn’t for me and gave up on it. Definitely one to watch though!

The Flight Attendant – NOW TV

I finished watching this a few days ago and really loved it. It is the only show on the list, in fact, that isn’t available on Netflix, as it was on NOW TV, but I definitely recommend giving it a watch. The story really evolves as you watch each episode, and theres a good backstory and some twists to keep you on your toes.

What other shows would you recommend giving a watch?
