Over the past year we have all spent a lot more time at home, being unable to go out and socialise as we might have done normally. I must admit, I did initially miss going out and seeing friends, attending events with the Bournemouth Bloggers and having date nights at local restaurants. However, as the time has gone on, and I have spent more evenings at home in the new house, I have come to realise that actually, I enjoy spending time at home, and I prefer cosy nights in over nights out.

I was recently sent across a hamper full of goodies from lumière, including their candle lighter, to help create my perfect cosy night in, and I wanted to share what that is for me.

All the Candles

I must admit, up until a few years ago I wasn’t really a candle person, but my brother and his wife started a candle business and I now a total convert. The only problem? I cannot for the life of me use a lighter. I get scared when the flame comes up and I panic and let go – which is something that Ed finds extremely amusing. I used to light a birthday candle on the hob and then light my candles from that, until we moved and now have an electric hob. That is why the candle lighter from lumière is actually a lifesaver for me – I can now easily light my candles without having to get my husband to help me – total gamechanger (and only £2.99). With the light off and the candles lit, the lounge has a softer, cosier atmosphere.

Bundle on the Blankets

I am a massive blanket fan. We have built up quite the collection over the last couple of years, and we tend to bundle them on to get cosy in the evenings.

A Good Film

I have two distinct genres of films that I enjoy most, either a total cheesy rom com, or a psychological thriller/horror, it depends on what mood I am in. I rely on IMDb to check the rating on films, and to try and cut down the decision time, because I swear we can sit and take longer deciding on what to watch than the film itself sometimes.

Tasty Takeaway

I have definitely had more takeaways since lockdown, as I think most people have due to not being able to go out for a meal. I love The Real Greek, but we also like a good Indian, or pizza. The best bit – no washing up (we are yet to renovate our kitchen and don’t have a dishwasher yet, so this is a big deal for me)!

All the Chocolate

I am a sucker for chocolate, I think I get it from my mum. Some good chocolate, a film and a cosy blanket, with the candles lit – heaven.

What is your idea of a cosy night in? Do you prefer nights in to nights out since the pandemic?

I was sent across items featured in this post, however all words and images are my own.
