I’ve spoken before about how much the loss of my grandad when I was twelve years old affected me, and how I still miss him very much. When I was contacted by the team at Inscripture, I jumped at the chance to collaborate with them as their jewellery is beautiful and holds such sentimental value. I have seen the concept of using handwriting to personalise jewellery before, but the quality and finish of Inscripture’s products are incredible, and I was so excited to receive my own bracelet, with my grandad’s writing.
When choosing what I wanted the bracelet to say, I went for a line from my grandad’s voicemail message, from when he passed away. There’s a scene in P.S I Love You, where Hilary Swank listens to her late husband’s voicemail over and over again, and that is how I was after my grandad died, I called and listened to it so many times that I still remember the whole message by heart. I rang that number until it was disconnected, and I had been toying with the idea of having the line ‘Just as soon as I can’ tattooed on me, but having it on jewellery is just as special.
The lovely team at Inscripture were so helpful and friendly. I sent across a photo of something my grandad had written, from my baby book, and then an additional piece of writing of his, with letters that weren’t on the original, as I didn’t have the exact text written by him for them to replicate. The process was quick and easy, and the delivery was also a lot faster than I expected.
I was so impressed when I received my bracelet. It is a simple design, but so beautiful, and is adjustable, to fit different wrist sizes. The engraving was perfect, they did an amazing job at replicating my grandad’s handwriting, and it is such a special piece of jewellery for me, I haven’t taken it off since I received it (other than to sleep and shower). I love how it looks, and I am already considering gifting the jewellery for birthdays this year, as my family are just as impressed as me.
I was a bit worried about how bulky the jewellery might feel, but it is so dainty, and comfortable to wear. I absolutely love it, and am so pleased that I now have something to honour my grandad’s memory with, that I can wear every day. The children have asked what the engraving says, and it has opened up a conversation about my grandad, who would have loved to have met them.
