Last weekend, my youngest child turned four years old and I’m not going to lie, it made me quite sad that he’s no longer my little baby. Benjamin has grown up so much over the past six months or so. He has taken everything in his stride, despite all the changes with lockdown, and since returning to nursery with new restrictions in place.
His speech has come along so well, after needing speech therapy earlier in the year as he wasn’t speaking much, now you can’t stop him from chatting away and it’s so nice to hear.
His birthday, last Sunday, was a little bittersweet for me, as a mother, as the government restrictions meant only one of us could be at Benjamin’s little birthday party with two of his friends and their mums. I loved that he enjoyed himself, but I hated not being able to experience it with him, as it made more sense for Ed to host.
As well as a little party with his friends from nursery, we also decided to take the kids pumpkin picking in the afternoon, which was lovely. It was a really nice day, and Benjamin said he loved it, which is all that matters!
We also visited and had visits from family members on the doorstep over the weekend, which was nice as it allowed people to wish Benjamin happy birthday and to give him his presents in person.
I still can’t believe how grown up Benjamin is getting. Last month I applied for his school place for next September, and I’m sure that time will fly by. It feels like no time at all since I was giving birth to Benjamin, and now he’s almost ready for school – it’s crazy!
