With all the dark mornings and gloomy weather, winter can be tough on your skin and leave you feeling less than glowing. I have been making a conscious effort to work harder on maintaining a skincare regime, and have recently been sent across some brilliant products that I now swear by, so I thought I would put together a little post to let you in on my secrets…
Morning Skincare Regime
In the morning, I have a shower and wash my face with cold water at the bathroom sink before drying off and applying the HydraLuminous Day Cream with SPF15 for drier skin from No7. My skin is always so dry, especially in the winter, and this cream is one of the only day creams I have used that has not irritated my face in some way. Although it feels nice and thick when applying the cream, it sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave a residue. Instead my skin feels so soft and hydrated, and it gives a brilliant smooth base for my makeup.
Every few days I have also been applying the No7 Nourishing Hydration Mask before the day cream. I tend to alternate between using it in the morning or the daytime, depending on how busy I am, but at the weekends, especially, I like laying back with a book for a few minutes whilst letting this soft and hydrating mask, aimed at dry and very dry skin, work its magic.
Evening Skincare Regime
In the evening, I can’t wait to take my makeup off and have a nice clean face. This hasn’t always been the case. I used to have cripplingly low self esteem and I couldn’t go anywhere or be in front of anybody without a full face of makeup, but now I am so much better about it, and Ed encourages me to go make-up free as often as possible to let my skin breathe.
I take my makeup off with miscellar water from Garnier, as it has never let me down and is so quick and easy to use, meaning I very rarely forget to take off my makeup, even after a night out.
After this, I was my face and use Estee Lauder’s Perfectly Clean foam cleanser to make sure every last scrap of makeup is gone. This leaves my skin feeling super clean and soft, and I have been buying this now for over a year as it is just so good.
I then use my hydrating serum from ARK Skincare, before applying their Regenerating Night Treatment, which launched at the end of January and is fantastic at repairing my skin overnight and is specially formulated for your skin in your 30s and 40s. I am so impressed with it that I can’t imagine using anything else at bedtime now.
Using this combination of products has my skin feeling soft, supple and brighter, protected against the harsh winter weather.
Are there any fail-safe skincare products you would recommend for winter skin?
Some of the products featured in this post have been gifted, however I was under no obligation to write this post and all words and images are my own.
