Summer seems to finally be making an appearance here in the UK, and there is nothing I love better, during the warmer weather, than hosting a laid-back party in our back garden with family and friends. Ever since I bought Ed a barbecue a couple of years ago, we have been official garden party hosts, and I must admit, I love how easy they are for those long summer days, that blend into evening, chatting and enjoying a drink in the sunshine.
I have been sent some items that are essentials for a summer garden party, and I wanted to share them with you ready for the summer season!
I have heard so many good things about Aldi recently, whether it’s their own brand chocolate (apparently there is a pretzel one that I NEED to get my hands on) or their eclectic household items on offer.
I was recently sent across some of their outdoor tableware range, and I must admit, I was really impressed with the quality and fun, bright designs, that certainly look more expensive than they are.
The plates, bowls, cups and jugs, available in a selection of fun patterns including leaf print and lemons, are brilliant for brightening of the party, even when the clouds come overhead.
If you are attending a garden party as a guest and need to take over some food and drink, or are planning a barbecue or picnic at the park or beach this summer, the Lemons tote picnic cooler bag is perfect. It is nice and big, with plenty of space inside for all those essentials, and promises to keep food cool for up to four hours.
The Serving Melamine Tray is fantastic as a drinks tray. Which brings me swiftly onto….
All the Gin
Aldi also sent across some of their favourite gins, including Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin (only £9.99), and their pre-mixed cans of gin and tonic, which are perfect for enjoying outside in the sunshine (from 85p each).
It may not be the first thing you think of when planning a garden party, but the FireAngel CO-9X Carbon Monoxide Alarm is a small, portable alarm, perfect using out and about. It has a 7 year battery life, and clear indicators of power, fault and alarm status, so you can rest easy and enjoy the party, knowing you are safe.
The alarm isn’t just suitable for parties, it’s small size and portability means that you can transport it wherever you go. Project SHOUT is a national campaign, raising awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, and the GO with CO campaign encourages people to take an alarm with them when on the move to keep safe.
Plastic Straw Alternatives
There has been a lot of coverage on the news and in social media recently about the damage caused by plastics, and the benefits to our planet of finding plastic alternatives. Plastic straws have been removed from the majority of restaurants, bars and fast food outlets in the UK, and across other countries lately, and I have been looking for an alternative to use at home.
VASO have come up with a fantastic solution, their glass straws come in a variety of sizes to suit all glass types, and are suitable for both hot and cold drinks. They are strong and recyclable, and can go in the dishwasher for easy cleaning!
With the nights staying lighter for longer during summer, there’s no need for the party to stop once the day ends. When the light does start to dip, these lovely bright lanterns from Scaramanga are perfect for mood lighting. Simply add a candle and you are good to go.
The items featured in this post have been gifted for inclusion, however all words and images are my own.
