A few weeks ago I took part in a flower crown making activity with the Bournemouth Bloggers and Crafts and Giggles, which is a company run by the lovely Katie from My Best Make. Flower Crown making wasn’t something I had ever done before, and it wasn’t necessarily something I would have chosen to do myself, however I am trying to be more open to trying new things and I am so glad that I went along as it was a lot of fun!
Katie met us at her headquarters, based in the lovely old town area of Poole, right by the Quay. She had gone to such an effort to make us feel comfortable and even had yummy chocolate chip cookies for us. There was a big table in the middle of the room, absolutely covered with artificial flowers! It was Insta-heaven in there.
Katie explained what we would be doing, the process of how to make a flower crown using the flowers, and a little about the Crafts and Giggles business and the other activities and services she offers, along with her team. Then it was time to get down to business.
We had been advised to choose the flowers we loved the most for our crown in advance, so that we had an idea of how we wanted them to be placed around the crown. I decided to go for really nice, bright, vibrant colours to match my Instagram theme at the time. I loved collecting all the bright yellows, pinks and oranges together.
Once we got started, we fell almost silent, as it takes a lot of concentration to put the crowns together, attaching the flowers and then covering the stems up with the special tape. We worked in this companiable quiet for the next half hour or so. It was so therapeutic to not think about anything other than the crown, and by the time I had finished, I was really proud of what I had created.
The best part of making a flower crown with artificial flowers is that you can keep it and wear it again and again, whenever you want to. Crafts and Giggles use lovely, high quality materials, and offer a really nice selection of flowers to choose from. As well as flower crown making, they also offer other craft activities, perfect for hen parties and other celebrations.
I attended an event with Bournemouth Bloggers and Crafts and Giggles, for the purpose of this post, however all words and images are my own.
