Before Ed and I took the kids on our first cruise as a family last summer, it had never really been something I saw myself doing. I mean, I always figured cruising was for the older generation, for people who were retired and had all the time in the world to sail off around the world. In fact, it wasn’t until we were on the cruise itself that I realised just how inclusive they actually are as a travel option.
I am a nervous flyer. I can’t stand long haul flights and get really worked up when I go on a plane for more than a few hours. Although I did suffer from anxiety on the cruise we went on, I still think it is a better option for me than flying when it comes to exploring certain areas of the world. I found the days at sea the hardest, so perhaps the answer is to go for a cruise with more ports.
A cruise allows you to visit a number of different places all in one trip. The cruise we went on gave us the opportunity to explore France, Germany and several of the ports in the Norwegian Fjords. We wouldn’t have thought to have ever gone on a holiday to Norway, but it was so beautiful and I am really thankful we had the chance to visit with the children.
Before going on a cruise, I had no idea what to expect. A cruise ship is like a holiday resort but on a larger scale, with restaurants, bars, shops, pools and even theatres on board. There was also a kids club and babysitting service, so the children always had something to keep them occupied. On board a Silversea Cruises ship you can choose to opt for all-inclusive, giving you the luxury of knowing everything is covered and you can relax and enjoy every moment.
A cruise is perfect if you are looking for something a little different for your next holiday. There are so many different destinations to choose from, whether you are looking to relax in the sunshine, view the northern lights or even head off on a world cruise. There are cruises for families, cruises for adults only, cruises for foodies and cruises for those who haven’t cruised before.
As somebody who never envisioned themselves going on a cruise, let alone enjoying the experience, I recommend looking into a cruise that would suit you and adding it to your bucket list.
This is a paid post, however all words are my own.
