Wedding Wednesday – Sit Down with a Supplier – Pretty Little Parties

With the end of January finally in sight, and wedding season coming ever closer, this week I’m chatting to Jen from Pretty Little Parties.

Hi Jen, can you please explain what your company does?

Pretty little parties is a venue dressing and styling service specialising in vintage and rustic themes – basically we come and make your day look pretty before you arrive, you have a wonderfully pretty day and the day after we come and collect it all for you.All of the prettiness and none of the stress!

We have everything from table centrepieces, prop hire, chair covers, sweet buffets, vintage bikes, personalised signs, vintage china hire…. you name it, we can provide it! Most of our time is spent either sourcing products, planning or dressing!

What are your top tips for couples?

My one and only tip for couples is – KEEP IT PERSONAL! Have what you want… not what everyone wants you, or expects you, to have!

No matter what your budget you can have what you have stored in your Pinterest boards with a bit of hunting around – set out a budget and research local suppliers that have your same vision.

Be cheeky – if you don’t ask you don’t get!! I’d rather someone say… I want this – but on with £X and then I can tailor a package – rather than disappoint!

What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry?

The thing I love most is brides and grooms reaction to my work – when someone says how special their day has been – that you nailed exactly what they wanted – there is no better feeling!!

Working so closely with my couples means that a lot of them become like friends – i want my couple to trust me – after all I’m helping with one of the most important days of their lives! So it’s important to be honest and tell me exactly what they want and exactly what they don’t like… and when yuh get it perfect for them… it’s like Christmas to me!

What are the trends for 2017?

A real trend I see coming through for 2017 is Old/New – think vintage glamour set in an industrial background…. OTT table centrepieces set a warehouse, coppers and pewter hues, earthy tones and rustic edges. Nothing to organised – yet planned to the very last detail….

A very distinct setting with whimsy glamour twist.

Other than your own company/product, what would you recommend for a wedding?

Bluebells and daisies florist – Gemma is AMAZING at what she does and has a real passion for her work – that shows in all her work whether it be a wedding Fayre or an actual wedding – everything is perfection!

Also just going back to keeping it personal – Suzie Jewsbury bespoke shoes and accessories is a must if you want bespoke items for your wedding! I have terrible hip pain and can bearly walk in heels, so Suzie is my first choice when matching accessories and shoes to my outfit. You buy the shoes that are the perfect heel height, fit, width etc and Suzie can customise them to match any outfit! She’s amazingly talented!!

What would be your dream wedding venue?

My dream wedding venue would be Park House Barn in Milnthorpe. A total blank canvas and the perfect venue for making your own! The barn is lit with fairy lights and 5 stunning huge chandeliers that give it a real WOW factor! The owner is more than accommodating and near enough anything goes – it’s an venue dressers dream!!

Thanks Jen!
