I am one of those people who always check the box when on holiday sites to ensure there is a hot tub so when I was asked whether I would like to review one for a local hot tub hire company – Party Tub Hire, it was a no brainer. A hot tub of my own – where do I sign up?!
Unfortunately my own garden is a bit neglected whilst the house renovations take center stage, so my dad took one for the team and had the hot tub in his garden for a very generous ten days over my birthday. Let me start by saying that one of the main reasons I haven’t hired a hot tub previously myself is that I assumed it would a) be a massive faff, with lots to organise myself and b) that it would be flimsy and not the same as the hot tubs I am now used to in Airbnb and hotels. I had nothing to worry about with Party Tub Hire – Rob was so friendly and helpful before we even got the hot tub, he sent across all the information of what to expect, as well as double checking that the access to the garden would be big enough to accommodate the hot tub because these are not those inflatable hot tubs you may have seen before, they are the real deal, fantastic quality and a super luxurious product in your back garden. I was so impressed by how nice the hot tub looked in situ, it has made me seriously reconsider getting a hot tub in our garden once the house is finally finished.
Rob came at the agreed time to set up the hot tub and he didn’t need any help, despite the hot tub needing to be rolled along the side of the house to the garden (we did offer, but he said he was well practised and it was no problem for him to get on and do his thing). The hot tub took around 45 minutes or so to set up and then Rob ran me and my dad through the very simple instructions to ensure it got up to temperature that first day, and then how to maintain the cleanliness of the hot tub throughout the hire period.
It was all very clear, and he left instructions for us to refer back to if we needed to (as well as the chemicals we needed to top up at the end of each day). As we were hiring for over a week in total, he also showed us how to clean the filter, which needs to be done once a week, and then Rob left and the next day the hot tub was up to temperature and ready to enjoy. To note, you will need access to the cold water mains and a 13 amp socket for Rob to set the tub up. You will also need to ensure the tub stays connected to the mains (and covered over when not in use).
I will mention at this point that it is, obviously, an extra cost for your electricity bill to maintain a hot tub. The biggest cost was on that first day when the temperature was increasing, I believe my dad said it was around £10, and then the rest of the time the additional cost for his electric averaged at around £3-£4 per day. This isn’t a huge cost, and definitely wouldn’t put me off hiring on another occasion, but it is something to consider and add on to the cost of the hot tub hire, although they do have special offers available at times, where the cost of electricity is included in the hire – peace of mind for anybody concerned about added costs!
Unfortunately we had some absolutely classic British weather for most of the hire period, with some days completely rained off when it came to getting in the hot tub and enjoying it. However, I did manage to have a few cheeky dips, and my dad also enjoyed having the hot tub in his garden where he could get in when the sun shone for a bit.
I also really enjoyed having a bit of a hot tub party over the weekend I celebrated my birthday, and the kids really loved getting in and having a splash around too – it’s something they usually only get to do on holiday, so it added a little something extra to the celebrations. As a side note, Benjamin is just old enough to enjoy the hot tub, as you are advised not to have children under 6 years old in there. He was very good at limiting his time in there too, which was something I was expecting to have a battle with.
Onto the important questions, how much does this amazing hot tub cost to hire? Party Tub Hire are actually pretty affordable, offering a few different hot tub models and various options when it comes to duration of hire – prices start at £280 for a six day hire (including delivery and set up within 20 miles from Lymington in Dorset). The model we had was The Quatro 75, which is a premium tub for 5 to 6 people, plenty of hydrotherapy jets (26 to be precise), 2 speed settings, seating all around and underwater lighting too. The access width for the tub was 75cm, which means it will fit along most houses.
I would highly recommend Party Tub Hire for anybody looking to hire a hot tub, whether to check a hot tub is right for you before taking the plunge (I know, I know, sorry) and buying your own tub, or to celebrate a special occasion or treat yourself with a staycation in your back garden this summer. Rob was wonderful and knows his stuff – these high quality hot tubs are perfect for experiencing luxury at home at an affordable price.
