Hello, hello, long time no see. I feel like I haven’t sat down to write a proper chatty blog post for a long time. Life has, as was the case for most of 2022, been going a million miles, and I just simply haven’t had the time or headspace to write, as much as I love it.
As a quick catch up, I handed in my notice at my job back in October and started another one at the beginning of December, with a whirlwind two week induction, the five luxury hotels before breaking up for Christmas. It was a bit full on but I loved it, and I am so excited to get to know the properties better and really get stuck in this year. My previous job had become very stressful and I did not have a good work/life balance, so I am hopeful that this one will allow a better balance for me.
When it comes to new year’s resolutions I vary whether I make any or not, however this year I ended up having a lot of goals that came easily to me, so here are the ones that I aim to complete in 2023.
Spend Quality Time with Family
So now that I have a better work life balance, I want to prioritise spending quality time with the children, whether that’s coming in from work and sitting with them to go over their homework, reading to them at bedtime to planning staycations around the UK during the year,
Continue House Renovations
We moved in to our house two years ago and the renovations stopped after we finished the children’s bedrooms in 2021. Once I started working full time, I simply didn’t have the time or energy to give to the house, but I have decided enough is enough as I want my room sorted out now! I have made a good start on this one already as I have booked the plasterer and painter and am in the process of sorting the carpet, wardrobes and blinds, as well as the finishing touches which will make the room perfect. I am really excited but also really stressed with it all right now! I am sure that once I have finished my room, I will have the bug again and move on to the next room too.
Buy More Pre-Loved Clothing
I have been buying clothes from local charity shops for a while now and I really enjoy finding a bargain. I get a lot of compliments on the outfits I wear that include items that are pre-loved, and I want to share more preloved clothing on Instagram and in blog posts this year, so I will be making a conscious effort to sort through my wardrobes more often, to free up space and need for ‘new’ outfits.
Blog More
On that note, I want to blog more in general. I haven’t had the spare time, but I want to try and make some more time for writing as I love it. I want to get back into scheduling posts in advance, as this helped me before when I worked full time hours, and I also want to have more of plan ahead of time as I have so many ideas for content in my head that never make it down on *metaphorical* paper.
I also want to read more. I joined an online book club last year and loved it, but I didn’t like all the books and found I wasn’t keeping up, thus missing the chats and wasting my money a little. Instead I want to challenge myself to reading a set amount of books in the year, and have gone with 24 in total, meaning an average of two books a month, which should be doable. I am reading before bed, but also want to read for 10 minutes when I get in from work to de-stress and refresh my mind.
Work on Health & Fitness
I know it’s cliched, but I really do want to work on my health and fitness this year. Last year I let things slide until the last few months, and I really noticed a difference in my overall wellness. I overindulged at Christmas, which I do not regret as I love eating and drinking with family at this time of year, but now I am more than ready eat more nutritious meals, less processed food and lots of water to flush out my system alongside going to spin and pole regularly.
Cut Down Drinking
Going had in hand with my health and fitness, I have decided to join in with Dry January this month and so far, so good. I don’t drink a huge amount, but I am guilty of using wine as a crutch when I am stressed at work, and sometimes I struggle more with my anxiety when I have had a couple of drinks the night before, so this is something I am embracing with open arms this year.
So there you have it, these are my 2023 goals. I don’t have a deadline in place for them, but I am keen to get going, with most of them already started. I am excited to see where this year takes me, and I will try and check in as often as possible throughout the year, but also follow me on social media to keep up with my progress!
