Press Event

With summer here, I am all for making the most of every sunny day. Working full time means I take advantage of the long summer evenings, and I was so excited to be invited along to an event with Little Pickle Deli Cafe and Beachbum SUP, to enjoy a tapas style picnic down by the sea, before trying paddle-boarding for the very first time – eek!

Little Pick Deli Cafe is based in Southbourne, which is conveniently only fifteen minutes from where I work in Christchurch. I love how laid back the cafe is with a focus on promoting local produce with freshly baked savoury and sweet treats, deli cheese and meats, and of course the tapas style summer picnic hampers, which are available to take away and enjoy at home, on a day out or down on the beach, as we did. We were shown to their newly launched secret garden area, which is at the back of the cafe and a lovely little space suitable for around 10-15 people.

We headed down to Southbourne beach, where we sat on the sand and tucked into all the tasty treats from Little Pick Deli Cafe with the sound of the waves on the shore and the sun getting lower in the sky and making a lovely pink glow. I was impressed by all the food included in the picnic, especially the fresh bread, cheese, chutney and cured meats, it all tasted so good! We were also given two drinks and a bar of delicious chocolate from Sunshine Chocolate, which I could have eaten bars and bars of, I am a big fan of chocolate with a crunch.

After we had let our food go down, it was time to get out on the water with the paddle-boards from Beachbum SUP. I hadn’t tried paddle-boarding before and had no idea what I was doing but, with a couple of pointers, I just went for it, got on the board and started paddling along the shore. I was actually quite impressed with myself for trying something new. I didn’t quite manage to get to standing up, but I was on my knees and I can’t wait to try it again and hopefully get some more confidence with it.

I had such a fun time at the event, and it really was the perfect way to spend a summer’s evening – on the beach with tasty food and a fun activity to try.

I was kindly invited along to an event with Little Pickle Deli Cafe, Beachbum SUP and Socialagncy, however I was under no obligation to write this post and all words and images are my own.
